Wait to send out your surveys.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>Don\u2019t rush to send out those surveys! First, you\u2019ll need to wait some time for your payments to be processed, allow backers to fix their declined cards, and to deal with refunds. Each crowdfunding platform suggests different wait periods:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/kickstarter.com\" target=\"_blank\">Kickstarter<\/a><\/strong>:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kickstarter.com\/help\/faq\/creator+questions#faq_41804\" target=\"_blank\">Wait 14 days<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/indiegogo.com\" target=\"_blank\">Indiegogo<\/a><\/strong>: <a href=\"http:\/\/support.indiegogo.com\/entries\/20566503-Fixed-vs-Flexible-Funding\" target=\"_blank\">W<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/support.indiegogo.com\/entries\/20566503-Fixed-vs-Flexible-Funding\" target=\"_blank\">ait 5 days<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crowdtilt.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Crowdtilt<\/a><\/strong>:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/help.crowdtilt.com\/customer\/portal\/articles\/931244-how-will-i-receive-the-funds-for-my-campaign-\" target=\"_blank\">Wait at least 1 day<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/crowdhoster.com\" target=\"_blank\">Crowdhoster<\/a><\/strong>:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.crowdhoster.com\/setup\" target=\"_blank\">Wait 2-4 business days<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>From experience, we recommend waiting an additional 48 hours on top of these specifications because the truth is, there will be a lot of people asking for refunds and you\u2019ll need that time to deal with them.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>2. Charge backers closer to shipping date to avoid chargebacks.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>A chargeback is when a credit card company withdraws money for a transaction from a merchant\u2019s account and deposits it into a consumer\u2019s following a dispute. Backers can do a chargeback if they feel like they didn\u2019t get what they paid for. The dispute can be about the quality or expectation of a good or service, or it can be as simple as the good or service not being delivered soon after a backer\u2019s credit card has been charged. Additionally, the credit card company charges the merchant a chargeback fee.*<\/p>\n<p>*If you are using <a href=\"https:\/\/backerkit.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">BackerKit<\/a>, and your backers purchase more items in BackerKit, we encourage project creators to charge backers when they are closer to their shipping dates to avoid fees and headaches.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>3. Remind your international backers to add the correct shipping.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Some of your international backers may have forgotten to pay the correct international shipping fee while your campaign was running. Others may not know if they paid the correct amount, or simply just didn\u2019t know about the extra shipping fee. Unless you plan on eating the costs, you\u2019ll need to find a way to track them down, contact them, and arrange a way for them to pay shipping. Make sure they do it, and make a note of it. If it gets overwhelming, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.backerkit.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">BackerKit<\/a> has a tool that makes it easy to identify the international backers who forgot to add a shipping address. Don\u2019t wait to issue refunds.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>If you have a few backers who decide that they\u2019d like to cancel their pledge and request a refund\u00a0after the campaign\u2014please take it seriously and just do it. Don\u2019t waste time negotiating. You want to give refunds immediately so you don\u2019t get any chargebacks. If you get enough of them it could be a threat to your relationship with your payment processor and turn into a huge problem for you. You can easily give refunds via Stripe on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kickstarter.com\/help\/faq\/kickstarter+basics#faq_41861\" target=\"_blank\">Kickstarter<\/a>, or via credit card or Paypal on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/support.indiegogo.com\/entries\/21081743-Refunds\" target=\"_blank\">Indiegogo<\/a>.\u00a0Also, it\u2019s handy to keep track of all your refunds in an excel spreadsheet.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>5. Give your backers the attention they deserve.<\/strong><br \/>\n<span id=\"docs-internal-guid-0991731a-f0e9-2701-abdc-a83e47cb47b4\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-0991731a-f0e9-2701-abdc-a83e47cb47b4\">Now that your projects is over, focus on making your backers happy. To do that, you\u2019ll need to work on completing your campaign\u2019s goals.
