PRODUCTION STATUS

My Dearest Backers,

time flies and a new update is slowly overdue. In the last two weeks we have evaluated the surveys, finalized the models so that everything can go into production, and ordered needed materials, such as the LED controllers for the wall lights. We just finished applying the 10% discount on our early birds and would like to give you a few more days to check your orders and next week we will also charge the cards for the add-ons.

Nevertheless, the production of the first items has already begun and I hope to have some nice pictures of our production for you in the next update.

THANK YOU
We would like to thank you all for the lively participation, especially for your feedback on our models, because this allowed us to offer our spheres with two more motifs, which were also lively ordered. In the end, our last completed model was also the most popular and we are very excited about your feedback when the spheres have arrived with you!

SPACE SCAPE
As a third and last point, we would like to introduce a little branch we want to grow on Kickstarter. We created a second account to gauge interest in minor projects that can run relatively easy on the side and that do not depend on glass completely.

Here we will start with our already presented wall canvas, but also aim to introduce other interesting novel designs and inventions.
We look forward to a lively interest for our first Campaign:

The Space Scape!
The Modern Wall Tapestry. Beautiful Photographs From the Depths of the Universe for Your Home, Office or Even Garden.

Now we can finally start! We will send out the surveys in a few minutes. You should receive an email from Backerkit. In it, you will be asked to click on a link that will take you to our survey.

There you will be asked a few questions to choose your desired motifs and to select upgrades. After that, you'll be taken to our add-on store, where you can see your shopping cart, add a few more products, and in the next step, enter your shipping and payment information. The whole process should not take much longer than 3 minutes and is pretty straightforward.

We will then manually deduct the 10% for all those who have purchased the corresponding Early bird.
We hope we have made everything as customer-friendly as possible and are looking forward to the results.

Now...OPEN THE GATES!

See you next week,
have a nice weekend,
Clemens and Team CinkS labs

Dear backers,

we are starting our survey smoke test in a couple of minutes, which means 5% of our backers will get the survey by email and fill it out, so we can see if there are any mistakes or incomprehension. After that, we roll it out to all backers. The backers from the smoke test don't have to do the survey twice, if there are no errors it counts. We will let you know when the final survey starts.

Have a nice day,
Bests, Clemens  team CinkS labs

Dear Backers,

First, we want to wish you a bit late Happy New Year!

We are now so far with the survey that it is in the review at Backerkit. At the end of this week, it should be ready and if there are no bugs we can launch it. There you will be able to choose your motives, increase the size of your wall lights and choose additional add-ons. Here are some photos of the 3 final models.

Also, the shipping cost will be calculated depending on the weight of your order and the add-ons. Unfortunately, it is not possible to automatically apply the early bird discount on Backerkit, we will do it manually after we have locked your orders and before we charge them. If it happens that the discount is higher than the shipping cost, we will refund the rest.

I will send an update in which I will go further into detail when we start to roll out the survey.

The Universe Canvas

In the last update, we have also shown you the Canvas I made from Truck Tarp and how amazing
it worked out to be.

We then made a few renderings of these and would like to get some insight on how many of you would
want to get such a thing. We tried to find out, how much we will charge for these and found, that most such images in this size (215x73cm) are sold for at least 200€ up to 4000€ which I find hilarious. We aim to sell this size for 100€, even with different motives on each side, so you can flip it from time to time.

It is only a small work for us to make these canvases way larger (400 x 300cm), so feel free to comment on which sizes you would like to see, which motives we can add, and maybe even if our price seems too low, reasonable, or too high.

Until then, best regards,
Clemens and Team CinKS labs

We gathered enough mass to bring the Black hole in a Sphere to life. We have drawn all interested backers into our event horizon and in a few days, we will unlock the pledge manager so that you can fulfill your individual wishes. After that, we can start with the production and send out the packages to you.

Thank you so much for your support of the Black Hole in a Sphere. We are grateful for your belief in our vision and wish you some lovely holidays.

Thank you again for your support.

My Dearest Backers and those who consider becoming one,

here is a video of our latest prototypes, pictures of our side products, and a small overview of the different sizes and motives of our wall lights.

You will be able to select the models and upgrade the sizes in the pledge manager a couple of days after the end of the campaign.

We hope, we can convince some more of you to support our campaign, remember it´s only about 30 hours left!!!
Have fun with the update and tell us your thoughts!

Click here to see the video!

Here you can see the Wall-light containing the Solar System true to scale. We made a prototype to see how it works and it came out so amazing, that we want to share it with you right away. If there is a lot of interest, we want to offer it in the pledge manager.

The same goes for this carina nebula wall canvas I made for my photo and sewing corner. It's a very sturdy tarp and the print quality is breathtaking.

Lastly, here is a small overview of all the variations of the Wall Lights in size, our 3 motifs (Disc, Distortion, and Perspectives), and their pricing for the base size and upgrades. Remember that the LED's are color-changing LED's.

Best regards, Clemens and Team CinkS labs!

New Prototypes in Sight!

In short:

  • The Mindblowing Coincidence
  • New Prototype is in Sight
  • The Solar System as a Wall Light

The Mindblowing Coincidence

It’s unbelievable but in 1783 John Michell suggested the existence of BLACK HOLES for the first time. 200 years later, in 2019, the world was thrilled by the first photos of real Black Holes using the Event Horizon Telescope. For the nerds among us: One at the center of Galaxy M87 and the one known as Sagittarius A* at the heart of our own Galaxy - the Milky Way:

You might be thinking: “Wow! A fuzzy coffee mug stain? ”But! If you are disappointed by this image, we think this misses the gravity of the situation. From this image, we should be able to tell whether the general theory of relativity accurately predicts what happens in the strong gravity regime of a Black Hole.

What's even more exciting for us, is this picture we took of our own Black Hole Screen. Within its bouquet, in the upper left corner, you can see the blurred version of our presentation of a Black Hole.

The resemblance to the real photos from ESA is truly mind-blowing. You can see the exact orbit of photons depicted in the original shot from the Event Horizon within our glass art.

You wind up with some of the gas moving towards us and receding from us on the top. The light is being boosted in our direction. That’s why you can see brighter spots in the images. It’s like the similarity of those two pictures reinforced the credibility of each of the shots.  We are so happy about this lucky snapshot and couldn’t be more proud to receive this scientific legitimization.

Take a closer look at our campaign and please don’t forget to spread the word. Give us a shoutout and tell your friends!

New Prototype is in Sight
We will create another prototype for you. We try to put only two two-dimensional images in our sphere so that we have both a specific view of the distortion as well as the accretion disk. Unfortunately, we still have some issues with the software we convert these models into laser dots with, so the real prototype might not be finished before the campaign ends, but you will be able to look at it in the pledge manager and choose it if you want to.

The Solar System as a Wall Light
We also worked on a wall light containing our Solar System - true to scale Model from the Solar System campaign. This will be an option as well within the pledge manager right after the campaign. Feel free to tell us your thoughts about it!

Only a couple of days are left to back our campaign, so don´t hesitate!

Help Us Steer Even Further Into the Perfect Black Hole

We have noticed that while participation is encouragingly high, many of you pre-registrants have not baked and we would like to find out why that is.

Our guess is that you are still not convinced by our black hole representation. To be honest, at the beginning of the work on the black hole I had hoped, we could represent it in such a way, as one imagines them, but I had to realize fast that unfortunately, this seems physically impossible... Unless one creates a real black hole, but I must disappoint you, this does not work^^.

Nevertheless, as in previous campaigns, we continue to work on new prototypes and improvements, so now you are asked:

What could we do better? Give us a hint in the comments!

To give you an insight into our experiments, here are our approaches and images of our prototypes.

  • The first approach came out as a white ball with various layers of voids in it, but you couldn't see them.

  • The second approach is this one. I found it somewhat fascinating, but not even remotely convincing. Maybe we can use this approach to create a model that looks realistic and 3d only from one point of view (also the laser quality of this is very poor, there was something wrong with the machine)

  • Our fourth approach is to laser the accretion disk from our wall lights as big as possible into the sphere to get some optical distortions and just hint at the jets. This seems to be the most promising approach at the moment.

Another aspect is the light distortion of the sphere as an optical element in itself. If you have a black dot on the background or look into the LED from a right angle, similar optical illusions come to light as there would be with a real black hole, but this is hard to be represented by the properties of cameras.  Have you ever filmed a bathroom magnifying mirror, then you know what I'm talking about (if not, try it, you will be surprised)

This was it for this week's update. Have a wonderful time! Best regards, Clemens and Team CinkS labs
