Now, samples!
It feels so special to hold this project, which I had in my mind for over a year now, in my hands for the first time! I ordered three keychains and a handful of random charms to make sure that the colours, sizes and mechanisms all work before putting in the big order. And it’s a good thing I did! Strap in for many good and one bad news.
First of all, the keychain samples and the charms look AMAZING. The print quality is very good, the details are visible even on the tiny charms and the colours are clear and bright. Similarly, the print on the lanyards came out really well, too. There are a few things I’ll change before placing the final order:
The plastic loopies that keep the keychain closed (see below) are extremely difficult to open. Instead the keychains will close with a gold ball-bead chain (as planned). This will not effect the stability.
The keychain hinges will all be at the bottom of the keychain for more stability
I’ll add two-three magnets to the keychains which require some minimal design changes to hide them. The magnets are not very strong but they do serve as an additional security when closing the keychain. I try to hide them with foreground elements, but some keychain designs, like the tundra and grassland, don’t have forground elements at the top. In those cases I have to either add one or hide it behind the sky.
The lanyards will have gold hardware + gold split ring and chain. This will give you more options to use them. You could for example fill the Shaker Keychain up and then close it with a jump ring to add it to your lanyard chain (see below). I’ll include a matching jump ring with every lanyard! Of course you could also add any other charm to the chain, such as the new freebie or any that you already have.
Now let’s get to the bad news 😟
As you know, the legendary animal charms are supposed to be holographic. Well, instead of sending me shaker pieces with a holo effect, they sent me charms that are twice as thick as the shaker elements and don’t fit into the shaker keychains at all. In the picture below you can see that the holo charm has a thin and a thick piece of acrylic.
I had hoped this was a miscommunication, because when I first calculated the project and asked for quotes, I specifically asked if holographic shaker pieces are possible and both manufacturers I contacted confirmed it. Now it turns out that it isn’t. I am really disappointed, even more so because I hyped you (and me) up for holo shaker charms and now have to go back on that. If I had know from the start, I wouldn’t have included it in the campaign.
So what are we doing about it?
Of course, there will still be legendary animal charms! They just won’t be shiny holographic.
As an apology, everyone who backed the campaign or preordered will receive a small ca. 2.5 cm holographic keychain charm. It will come with a little clasp, but if you ordered a lanyard you can also add it directly to the chain with a jump ring. As for the design, I’ll choose a few of my favourite animal designs from among the illustrations and everyone receives a random one. Any leftovers will be sold on Etsy in blind bags later.
Now, that still leaves me with 21 cute and tiny holographic charms, which I‘ll turn into tiny magnets! That means I have some SUPER EXCLUSIVE holographic magnets that need a home 👀 I’ll put one in 21 random pledges or preorders. You literally won’t get anything more exclusive than this, given that they are a happy(ish) accident.
I hope you are okay with this decision. I know it’s not ideal, but I think I found a good solutions for all of us. Even if they don’t have a rainbow effect, finding a legendary animal is still going to be a great feeling!

First off, there was a typo in the email I sent out today. It said “with having to raise a whole 2k!” instead of without which makes it mean the opposite of what I wanted. Sorry about that and I hope context clues help people realize what I really meant. We have lowered the unlock to $1,350! This will get us purple and orange bags. Green bags can still be unlocked, just at a higher unlock. I figure this way at least we get SOME bags if we can’t raise 2k before the end of the campaign.
This also will let us unlock enamel pins easier! So share share share when you see us posting and hopefully we can reach these goals 🥳

I wanted to post a quick update. I've started packing orders, so rewards will be shipping out. I usually try to knock out international orders first, since they can take longer to ship.
Did you know you could pledge now and not get charged till then end of the campaign? I’ve had a couple people say they were waiting to pledge until after they’re paid, but that’s not necessary! The more pledges we have early on, the more likely we are to get more pledges because people will see it’s getting followed. So go ahead and choose all the fun options you want now! You can always change you mind after if needed.
Now if you’re reaallly hoping for the pumpkin pins and worried they won’t get funded, I do have a backup plan! I have a campaign coming in January and I’m gonna put them as a stretch goal if needed. I’m always going to want more tiny pins so be sure to follow the next campaign when I get it set up!

Emails went out yesterday to let you know we are locking orders. You have until December 3rd at 3:00 AMMST to make changes.
After this, we will lock your reward selections and charge cards for add-on item purchases, pledge upgrades, and pre-orders. Please make sure that you have the correct card information on file. If any issues arise with your payment you’ll receive an email letting you know to correct your payment information.
You can update your shipping address up until we lock addresses for shipping on Dec 5th. You will get a 48 hour email notice for this as well.
If you fill out your BackerKit survey or pay for extra shipping after the Dec 5th, we’ll still receive your information, but your shipment may be delayed.

For the future, we will be switching to using a shipping fullfillment company to ship out all orders on our shops + future campaigns! first, we have our leather colors picked for the new samples! white and yellow for the honduran white bat...
and purple for the dreamy bat, with a new insert color as well!
we're getting a few color samples in to see what color will be right for marine bat, who may have to undergo a bit of a design change depending on our options... but we'll see!
also, fat bat memo pads AND batty blind bag charms are on their way to us! 🖤
