Project Update: Legends of Adventure Thanksgiving Update with More Exciting Interviews!

Hello Adventurers,

It's been a busy past few months, so we’re excited to share another meaningful update about the journey of Legends of Adventure: The Story of Sierra On-Line with you and reveal what's coming next.

We're still targeting a 2026 release for the documentary – and as you'll read below we've made a lot of progress towards that goal!

Recently Completed Interviews

We are pleased to announce that our most recent round of interviews included conversations with:

Josh Mandel, a designer and producer at Sierra On-Line and the voice of King Graham, who helped craft the tone and humour of some of the company's most beloved games. Josh spoke from the heart about his experience at Sierra, calling it "the best four years of his life."

Mark Seibert, a composer, director, and producer at Sierra, who helped establish the sound that set Sierra's adventures apart. His vantage point revealed how Sierra stayed on the cutting edge of multimedia storytelling, and we're so happy to have interviewed him!

Laine Nooney, an Associate Professor of Media Industries at NYU and one of the foremost scholars on the history of the early computer and games industries in the United States. Laine has researched and written about Sierra On-Line extensively, and will help the viewer understand why Sierra mattered, how it succeeded, and why it still resonates so strongly today.

Marcus Mera, the co-producer of Ken and Roberta Williams' recently released remake of Colossal Cave, which brought them out of retirement. As a fan and collector of Sierra On-Line games himself, he gives us a window into why the Williams' returned to gaming after decades away from the industry.

Each interview subject brought thoughtful perspectives and their own unique personal experiences to the story, and we are grateful for their participation.

Post-Production Progress

A behind-the-scenes shot of our editor's desk – where the magic happens!

We are now deep into post-production and have nearly completed an assembly cut of the film. This is the first rough version of the film where every scene, interview, and story beat is placed in order from start to finish.

For the first time, we are able to watch the story unfold from beginning to end. It's been an incredible experience seeing the tale of Sierra On-Line – as well as years of work by our team – finally take shape on screen. This has been a long journey and though there is much more work to be done, we're so thrilled to see it starting to come together.

Next Steps: Final Interviews

A very dedicated collector recently showed us some classic On-Line Systems computer games in person

With the assembly cut nearly completed, we're still working to schedule a few very exciting final interview subjects and we're working diligently to make these conversations happen. We're excited to reveal who these people are when we're able to confirm their participation!

--

Thank you again for your continued support, enthusiasm, and patience as we work to tell the story of Sierra On-Line and the remarkable people behind it. We look forward to sharing more soon, including an exclusive backer-only look behind the scenes as the film continues to take shape. Be sure to follow us on Bluesky and Instagram for day-to-day updates on the doc and more!

Project Update: Legends of Adventure Turns One + An Inside Look at a Special Oakhurst Location!

Hello, Adventurers!

We're here today with a very special update marking one year since Legends of Adventure: The Story of Sierra On-Line was successfully 100% funded on BackerKit!

With the generous support of our backers, we went on to exceed our original goal and our own expectations. It was an important day for the team because it was the day we officially knew that we were going to get to tell this incredible story and do it in a way that was worthy of the subject matter. So thank you again for making this possible!

Documentary Progress Report

It's been a year full of progress on the project – almost two dozen amazing interviews, over 40 hours of footage, hundreds of pieces of archival material sourced, and almost a month spent on the road by our team – and there's so much more to come.

Interviews continue (more on that in the "Backer Only" section below) and we're now deep in post-production with work on a first assembly cut well underway, as well as the film's score and main title design.

We're excited to share more news on this front in the coming months, but for now we want to give you a sneak peek at one of the highlights of our last production road trip...

Inside the Williams' Oakhurst Home

As mentioned in our last update, the previous production leg brought the LOA team to Oakhurst, California – home of Sierra On-Line's headquarters from the early 1980s until 1993. The majority of the Sierra team lived in and around the area during this time, including co-founders Ken and Roberta Williams.

After some early successes at Sierra and around the time that development on the original King's Quest began, Ken and Roberta decided to build a home in Oakhurst. With six bedrooms, five and a half bathrooms, two kitchens, a bar and game room, and indoor volleyball court, the palatial house was unlike anything else in the region and a tribute to what they'd built at Sierra so far.

Home to the Williams' young family, more than a few wild company parties, and the development of some of Sierra's most beloved games, today the house remains largely the same as when it was first built, complete with stained glass referencing early Sierra titles like Mystery House, The Wizard and the Princess, and The Dark Crystal.

Take a look inside the Williams' Oakhurst home below:

Huge thanks to project backer Lance Ewing for mentioning that the house was listed on AirBNB during the campaign last year, as this allowed us to get in touch with the current owners and arrange to shoot there.

So if you're planning a trip to the Yosemite area in the near future or want to relive the glory days of Sierra On-Line with a big group of friends, the owners of the property have provided us with a discount code – SIERRADOC10 – that can be used until the end of 2027 to book the house on loveyosemite.com for 10% off.

Once again, we're incredibly grateful to all the backers for their support and for coming along with us on this wild journey. Follow us on Bluesky and Instagram for updates on the documentary and more!

Backers: Visit the Legends of Adventure Community page to see our exclusive "Backer Only" info on the next round of interviews.

Project Update: Pantheon Sticker Set

Hey all! Our lovely graphic designer has finished with one of the Pantheon Stickers that will be going out to those who order them. They are listed as an add-on for any donation level.
Jorrax: God of Death

Jorrax is the god of ruin, the whisper in the corpse’s ear, the hunger that comes after all has burned. He is death not as peace, but as transformation through agony. Plague, decay, war, and madness follow in his wakeβ€”not because he desires suffering, but because he sees beauty in the collapse of order. Where others see endings, Jorrax sees beginnings made from ash and bone.

His symbolβ€”a chained scythe crossed with a sickle and ringed in a loop of braided ironβ€”embodies destruction as ritual. The scythe cuts down the living; the sickle reaps what festers. The chain binds the tools together, representing the inevitability of decay and the divine right of entropy.

Jorrax is revered by necromancers, warlords, plague-bringers, and those who live on the edge of life and death. He does not demand templesβ€”he demands aftermath. The battlefield strewn with the dead, the quarantined city, the crumbling ruinβ€”these are his sanctuaries. Prayers to him are written in blood, whispered to bone, or carried on the smoke of burning flesh.

His rites are brutal and transformative: the forging of bone-blades, the tattooing of death marks, the raising of the dead as vessels of war. Some cults flay themselves to better understand decay; others feast only on carrion or ash.

Jorrax is depicted as tall and robed in rot-stained cloth, his face veiled in chain. Where he walks, the air turns cold, and the living feel their hearts beat louderβ€”as if reminded of their fragility. Legends claim he was once mortal, the first necromancer who defied the gods and won. Others believe he is older than time itself, born from the first scream of a dying star.

He stands in eternal opposition to the gods of balance and healing, not because he despises them, but because he believes all things must fall before they rise. War is the hammer. Disease is the chisel. Death is the hand that carves.

In whispered fear or dark devotion, mortals speak his nameβ€”and when they do, something in the world begins to rot.

Project Update: Incognita Season 2 Date Change Announcement

Big news, adventurers.

We’re moving the Incognita’s Infamous Adventures Live Concert + Season 2 Crowdfunding Launch to May 9, and we’re doing it for a very exciting reason. We realized that with just a few more months, we could make this event bigger, more special, and more worthy of this community.

Here’s what that extra time allows us to do:

More Time to Plan Your Trip

Instead of scrambling to book flights and hotels in a few weeks, you now have time to actually plan your Nashville adventure. Coordinate with friends, find the best travel deals, and make a full weekend out of it. This is going to be an experience worth planning for.

We’re Locking in the Cast

We’re currently in conversations to bring someone with serious geek credentials to the event. That’s the kind of thing we want to do right, and it takes time. We’re also working to bring more ZOE cast members into Season 2, and the more voices from the show we can include, the more special this entire project becomes.

Building Real Buzz

More people are discovering Incognita’s Infamous Adventures every day. By May, the community will be even bigger, and more fans will be ready to jump into the campaign on day one. We don’t want this to just be a show, we want it to be a celebration. Something that feels like a true gathering of the community that’s grown around this story.

Crafting Rewards You’ll Actually Want

We’re designing crowdfunding rewards that are meaningful, creative, and worthy of the fans who make this project possible. Perks that make you feel like the essential part of this journey that you are.

The Bottom Line

May gives us the chance to make this launch everything it should be. So mark your calendars...

May 9. Nashville.

Start planning now, because this is going to be worth the wait.

Project Update: Short update: Studio day!

So we went to the green screen studio.

It's somewhere around here...

I needed just a few shots of Nimble going to [redacted] and [redacted] things up, so we visited the trusty green screen at Chaldea studios.

Found it!

That was (hopefully) the last time we need an actual actor and studio space to finish this show!

Up Next:

Dining room table studio! Filmmaking in the comfort of home!

Project Update: πŸ¦‡61% Funded. What's next?

Hi everyone,

First - thank you! To all of you who pledged, shared, or cheered us on: you're the reason this story gets to continue. As you know, our campaign ended at €4,263 (61% of our goal). We didn't make it across the finish line this time.

But TABOO is not going away.

We've spent the last few days analyzing what worked and what didn't. And one thing became clear: while the campaign itself fell short, the story - Kyun, her grandmother, their world - clearly resonated with you.

We're now preparing to relaunch with a stronger, clearer campaign.

We'd love your input to help shape it. If you have thoughts on what worked, what didn't, or what you'd want to see in a relaunch, please send us a note at: [email protected]

We'll be back in a few weeks with more concrete information!

And thank you - for everything.
