We’re excited to share the Land of Eem Core Rulebook manuscript with you all! (UPDATE: the document is no longer available to check out! Thanks to all who gave their feedback!)
We’d love to get extra eyes on it for any pesky typos and the like, so please leave comments in the doc or head to our Discord! The manuscript will be up and available to check out for two weeks until January 6th, and then it will be heading into layout.
Speaking of layout, the Mucklands sandbox book is well underway, and it is a beast! Here are a couple sneak peeks, including some town maps by artist Moreno Paissan.
We are super excited with how everything is shaping up and can’t wait to share the PDFs with you sometime next year when everything goes to print!

The Pledge Manager, as well as the Pre-Order Store for folks who missed the campaign, are now live! Thanks so much for your patience in the last month.
We also want to clarify something. In the post campaign update we mentioned the possibility of extending the GM Screen and Gelatinous Goo Dice stretch goals into the Pledge Manager. After carefully considering the logistics, we decided that it just wouldn’t be feasible. But we still want to make the screen and dice available to you, so we are offering them as add-ons AND we’ve discounted them for backers!

We also have Dungeoneer Adventures and all 3 volumes of Rickety Stitch and the Gelatinous Goo available as add-ons, in addition to many other goodies. Be sure to check everything out on offer.

Smoke rises over the horizon! Do you see it? Is it an omen of things to come? YES! Yes it is.
We are about to launch our Pledge Manager Surveys smoke test. This means that roughly 5% of you will receive an email asking for you to come to the Pledge Manager. Once we check results in a day or so and everything looks good, we will press the LAUNCH button and it will be sent out to the rest of you*!
We appreciate everyone’s patience as we worked diligently to make sure we had all the information in the Pledge Manager 115 percent accurate for each of you.
There is still more work to be done before we can get the books, screens, dice, and meeples into your paws, but we can hardly wait.

Friends,
We know you are all wondering what has been happening behind the scenes since the campaign closed. The simple answer is, a lot of stuff! Here are some brief highlights.
The folks at Exalted Funeral have been working on setting up the Backerkit Pledge Manager and Pre-Order store for everyone and the good news is that it should be ready soon. They will post an update in the next week with the date you can expect to start receiving the post campaign surveys that will collect your address and give you the opportunity to purchase add-ons!
Editing is well underway on the Core Rulebook, Bestiary and Sandbox. And all the artists and writers creating the lovely stretch goals are hard at work building amazing, compelling, funny content for your table.
James, Ben, and friends have been posting actual plays of Land of Eem every week on their YouTube channel. Check ‘em out! And be sure to join the community by heading over to the Land of Eem Discord!

We did it! We just finished the Land of Eem Backerkit Crowdfunding Campaign and Ben and James have something they want to say:
First, we can't thank you all enough for pledging your support. It means the world to us to share Land of Eem with all of you, and the response has floored us. We managed to hit the $240K stretch goal (an adventure by Luke Gearing) right at the end, which is amazing!
We also want to thank the Exalted Funeral team for publishing the game and really expanding our reach. We definitely couldn't have done this without their support and expertise.
We created the first stories that would become Land of Eem almost exactly 20 years ago. That started with the story of Rickety Stitch, which wouldn't get published as a graphic novel series until 2017. It's been a long journey of ups and downs for all things Land of Eem, but working on the RPG has been a constant labor of love ever since we started developing early designs in 2014. And we never imagined that we'd have the opportunity to share the game with so many people.
So again, thank you so much for your generous support! We're super excited to get the finished product into your hands.
Now for a quick campaign update:
In the next few weeks the Backerkit Pledge Manager will open up and be sent to you via email for post campaign surveys. This is where you can tack on any of the add-ons that you have been hoping for, upgrade your pledge to a higher tier, and pay for shipping. This will remain open for 30 Days. After that, your order will be locked in, and soon after that production on the physical items will begin, if they haven’t already.
Okay, are you ready for some amazing news?
After a lot of discussion we have decided to invest more in what we are giving you, the backers of this campaign. Even though we didn’t quite make it through all the goals, we are going to break open the locks on the last Adventure PDF by JP Coovert and the remaining Rascal meeple. That’s right, we can’t bear to think that you won’t get all this amazing content, so we are going to just give them to anyone who has supported the appropriate pledge level. This includes people who upgrade their pledge in the post campaign orders. We’ll also be making the meeple set a purchasable add-on.
The dice and screen are another story, however. We really want these to be available to everyone. Even though we didn’t make it all the way to the goals, we are going to extend those stretch goals through the Backerkit post campaign sales through the pledge manager.

Great magical burritos, that was quick! We’ve unlocked the 230k milestone, The Loyal Chum meeple! Soon they will be placed in the physical box sets and await grand adventures across the Land of Eem with their other meeple friends.

With the loyal chum unlocked It feels like the set of meeples is nearly complete. Could that be because we only have one left? Indeed, friend. But first, we have another milestone to unlock. Is it possible that we could dive into the darkness with Luke Gearing in another adventure? Luke is a prolific master of the creepy TTRPG arts and will bring to life our very first Doom and Gloom adventure PDF for this campaign, but only if we hit the next milestone at 240k.

BIG NEWS! We are opening up the Bard Supreme Set Tier once again in the final hours of the campaign! If you missed your chance earlier to get the Bard Supreme Set or would now like to upgrade your pledge, the floodgates are now open!
The Bard Supreme Set includes the Land of Eem Box Set, plus all 3 of our Rickety Stitch and the Gelatinous Goo graphic novels, and the first book in our brand new series Dungeoneer Adventures. Each book will come with a signed bookplate by Ben and James!
Rickety Stitch and the Gelatinous Goo
This is the series where the Land of Eem got its start! Rickety Stitch and the Gelatinous Goo is about a walking, talking, singing skeleton bard. He’s the one skeleton in the dungeon who seems to have retained his soul, and he has no idea why.
Rickety's only clue to his former identity is a song that he hears snippets of in his dreams, an epic bard’s tale about the Road to Epoli and the Land of Eem. His sidekick and sole friend is the Gelatinous Goo, who Rickety alone can understand. Together they set out in search of Rickety’s past, with abundant humor and danger galore!
Dungeoneer Adventures
Dungeoneer Adventures is a highly illustrated fantasy middle-grade series about a boy named Coop Cooperson. Coop lives in the Land of Eem and attends Dungeoneer Academy, a school that trains future explorers and adventurers with classes like Dungeons and Mazes, Creatures and Critters, and Swords and Sorcery.
Coop believes in the academy’s mission and the Dungeoneer’s Code, but being the only human student can make it difficult to fit in—sometimes he wonders if he really belongs. Lucky for Coop, his best friend Oggie the bugbear has his back, as do the two other members of their exploring team, Daz the boggart and Mindy the imp. They have to rely on each other more than ever as the test for their Junior Dungeoneer Badges looms closer.

We just crossed the $210k threshold, and the Knight-Errant Meeple has been unlocked! Huzzah! For those of you who pledged to get the Box Set, this tiny, honorable goblin warrior will now grace your play surface. Isn’t that purple plume atop their head just majestic?
Onward to the next milestone, which just happens to unlock at $220k! An adventure PDF written by tabletop roleplaying game designer, writer, and streamer Kienna Shaw! Kienna has written for Candlekeep Mysteries, Sea of Legends, Jiangshi, Starforged, and tons of other cool stuff.
Their derring-do adventure is going to be packed to the brim with romance and peril, and maybe even a dragon?
That just sounds amazing. Let’s make it a reality! Because, honestly, we can’t wait to run it in our own games.

Together we have achieved another milestone! At $200k we have unlocked a Derring-Do adventure PDF penned by the Studio Director of Supergiant Games, Amir Rao!
Amir is one of our best friends and also happens to be the co-founder of Supergiant Games, the makers of beloved video games such as Hades, Bastion, and Transistor. Yeah! That Supergiant Games! We couldn't be more excited to have him on board.
What does "Derring-Do" mean exactly? Well, Derring-Do adventures raise the stakes and require PCs to be heroic and brave formidable challenges in order to accomplish their goals. Set in the swampy region of the Quagmash, your heroes will be tasked with escorting the famed sludge metal band The Dredgelords on the first ever music tour through the swamp. A dangerous prospect indeed! The swamp is no place for the unprepared.
The next milestone is at $210k and it will be the fourth meeple to be added to the Box Set: a very armored goblin Knight-Errant Meeple!
Wow. It's really coming down to the wire, isn't it? Only 3 more days left in the campaign! Thanks so much for taking this journey with us. We can’t wait to unlock the remaining 3 adventure PDFs, 3 meeples, gelatinous goo dice, and the GM screen! But we'll still need your help to make it happen. The last two weeks have been an exciting blur for us. Your support, pledges, and comments have really meant the world to us. We can’t believe we’re about to type this but… We are already halfway through the Land of Eem Backerkit Crowdfunding Campaign!

Citizens of Eem! Backers! Heroes of the realm!
We did it! We’ve hit the 150k milestone, and are adding a Bard meeple in all his tiny glory to the Box Set! But this is no ordinary bard–this is Rickety Stitch (and the Gelatinous Goo), heroes of our fantasy graphic novel series. Now you can gallivant across the Mucklands map in style and regale your fellow players with imaginary tunes.
We have come so far together, friends, but there are miles still yet to go! The next milestone unlocks at 175k where we have a special surprise in store for you. JP Coovert, cartoonist, illustrator and designer extraordinaire, will write and illustrate an AdventurePDF filled with wacky Hijinks for your table. What might be in this adventure you ask? Well, I am pretty sure we should keep that a surprise, but since we like you so much, here is what we can share.

Wayward Explorers, Backers, Charming Bards!
The 125k milestone is now behind us! This grand adventure would not be possible without all of you. So again, thank you ever so much for all your support.
Let’s talk about the goal we just unlocked, shall we?
With the first Sandbox Expansion we’re going to be adding 5 more locations to the Used T’Be Forest region of the Mucklands realm. What nuggets of lore will be contained therein? How much richer will these locations make your journeys into this broken landscape ruined by greed, ambition, and a lack of moral fiber? Well, let us give you a few tidbits.
The Stone: An outpost of Felmog quest knights, also home to a dreadful sorcerer!
Chief Chopper’s Mill: One of the last operating lumber mills in the region. But with the flatlands all but completely felled, rumor has it, they’ve turned to the haunted forest of Grimly Wood!
Muckbang’s: An all you can eat joint run by an orch named Muckbang. Hungry customers headbang to loud music while shoveling slop into their mouths out of troughs. Always a swell time!
We’re super excited to share that when we hit the next milestone at 150k, the Bard Meeple (Rickety Stitch and the Gelatinous Goo!) will be added to the Box Set! You’ll be able to mark the map in style as your party gallivants across the Mucklands realm.

We made it to the third milestone at 100k! First, a heartfelt thank you from us. Bringing the Land of Eem to life has been a long journey and we are so very grateful to all of you for believing in us and our vision for the game. We are humbled by the outpouring of support.

It’s basically a pared down, streamlined version of the sandbox for players. Think of it as a gazetteer to help facilitate player-driven sandbox exploration, with select rumors and lore to spark imagination.
The next milestone is at 125k. This is where we get to start expanding the sandbox, first with the Used T’Be Forest, adding 5 more locations! And BEHOLD! We've parted the mist to reveal the next few stretch goals!

Adventurers of Eem, Backers, Champions of Goo!
We have unlocked the second stretch goal at $$75k! This level of funding will give us the power to create a suite of amazing, wonderful (and hopefully hilarious) online random generators to aid you and your party in your trek through the Land of Eem. Towns, PCs, NPCs, Taverns, Dungeons, and Treasure will all be there, randomly generated at your whim! Muhahahaha!

What’s in the Book of Random Encounters PDF?
1,500 total random encounters to spice up travel and kick-start creativity. There are 250 encounters per region in the Mucklands Sandbox Setting.
