How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.
To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.
All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.
Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.
Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.
Can I add add-ons in BackerKit?
Want to add add-ons now? Great! You can increase the amount of your pledge by the amount of the add-ons you wish to add in the pledge confirmation screen if you want to account for the funds now, or you can wait to add them and be charged later in the pledge manager after the campaign is over.
When will I be charged for my pledge?
Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.
What happens after the campaign is over?
The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.
The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.
Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.
Who do I contact if I have an issue with my shipment?

Can I ship to a PO Box?
No, but we ship to military FPOs/APOs.
What's going on with VAT/GST?
We have a new method of fulfillment! Countries in Zone A (Canada, the EU 27, Norway, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Ukraine) should not receive additional charges upon receipt. Canadians, we will be marking all packages as "bill duties and taxes to shipper," but this has historically not always worked. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with your receipt of paid fees if you're one of the above mentioned countries should you have received a charge by mistake.
Can I get Horizons of Spirit Island as part of this campaign?
If you are a backer who is NOT in the United States, then absolutely! It's available as an Add-On! If you are a backer in the United States, you'll still see the Horizons of Spirit Island Add-On as an option, but during the post-campaign pledge manager process, when you put your address in, it won't let you get the rewards associated with this Add-On. So, please do not select this Add-On if you are a US backer — just go to Target.
Will this campaign offer Spirit Island: Nature Incarnate in languages other than English?
Localization of any Spirit Island products is not within the scope of this campaign. We have many new options to make that happen due to our partnership with Synapses Games through Flat River Group, but we are still working out the details on translations. Rest assured that it's happening! It’s just not part of this campaign.
When is this expected to fulfill?
We are expecting a fulfillment date by end of 2023!
In what order will these items be fulfilled? Or, will I receive existing items first?
For the US and Canada, items that already exist (Spirit Island core game, expansions, etc.) will be fulfilled and shipped first. Nature Incarnate will be shipped later. We do not have a timeline for this yet as we are still pending those details! For everyone else, you should be receiving all of your items at once. This may be subject to change, but we will provide that information in a project update and change the FAQ here!
Will Nature Incarnate be available in a language other than English?
At this time, we are not going to have Nature Island translated into other languages. It will be in English only.
When will we be getting our pledge manager surveys?
If you did not get your pledge manager survey by December 8th, 2022, please reach out to email@example.com or the BackerKit support team.
When will the pledge manager close?
Unfortunately, that's not a straight forward answer! We typically do a last call for changes/updates to addresses right when the product arrives for shipments to begin. You will receive plenty of warning in the form of updates as to when that date is. But, for now, we don't have a specific calendar day.
Will I get tracking information?
Yes, you should receive tracking information once your rewards are shipped. However, we have had issues in the past with FedEx generating emails. If you have any issues, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Will there be a retailer package?
No, but we sell directly to retailers after fulfillment if you meet our retailer requirements. Please email email@example.com for additional information.
Once the Backerkit is locked, how do I update my address?
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org and include your Backerkit email address and your updated shipping address.
How will I know what's going on?
Once funded, Greater Than Games updates once per month to give you the progress on the development of the game, shipment, pledge manager status, and more!
