The VERY FIRST UPDATE on the Pizza Pinz campaign asked a simple yet age-old question: Should pineapple be on pizza?
I wanted to settle this debate once and for all. A poll would not suffice. Telling me what you prefer wasn't good enough. Yelling at me sure wouldn't work. What we needed were REAL results with REAL stakes! And nothing speaks louder than the almighty dollar 🤑
So let me refresh your memory on how I decided to end this debate: I made a pineapple lover enamel pin and a pineapple hater enamel pin. Whichever pin got ordered the most would settle the debate🍍🚫 Out of nearly 500 backers, exactly 100 of you voted with your wallets. And since exactly 100 of you voted, doing the math was easy. Thank you.

So there you have it folks, the age-old debate is officially, overwhelmingly, absolutely over! Hey all! Just wanted to check in and let you know that 100% of the Pizza Pinz orders are shipped, and hopefully in your hands now. Phew! That was a whole lotta pizza-themed work but everything got designed, manufactured, and shipped pretty much all according to plan. Feels good to get these pinz out into the world. I hope you enjoy them as much as I've enjoyed making them.
There may be a few international orders working their way to you, so if you are not USA based, hold tight as they are on their way. And a couple folks messaged me mentioning a pin missing or mismatched. Those orders will be (re) shipping on Saturday 💌

Wow what a ride! These past few weeks have been a pizza-lovin' blur 🍕 I've been receiving the pizza pinz from the manufacturer, folding the mini pizza boxes, pinning the pins to greasy little backer cards, placing the pins in the mini pizza boxes, and then putting the little boxes in slightly larger shipping boxes, and then in big bags, and then dropping them off at the post office. Cool!
Let me clarify one thing I think you ALL need to know. I had to fold 1500+ mini pizza boxes by hand! And silly old me thought I could do it all by myself. No, no, no. I needed some help, and thank the pizza gods for the BackerKit team! I asked and they SHOWED up folding nearly 1000 mini pizza boxes at our San Francisco office! I owe them what the Wookie's call a "Life Debt". Take a look for yourself, it was epic. And yes, we ordered pizza afterwards. And ate it too!
As for the remaining 500+ pizza boxes that needed folding? Well, my partner and I set up shop in our bedroom and watched an unhealthy amount of The Great British Bake Off until the job got done. I thought I'd spare you any pictures of that as I'm sure it was a grizzly scene. So instead I will leave you with a pic of the hosts and judges. Seriously folks, this is a really sweet show. I highly recommend it. Where American cooking shows are full of blood, sweat, and tears...the British bring joy, laughter, and happiness. Refreshing!
Ok so you are probably wondering why I am talking about The Great British Bake Off instead of showing you the damn pies! Ok, ok, here we go. Let's take a look at the featured pins right before they were packaged and shipped off!
So these pics were taken rather crudely, but let me assure you THESE PIZZA PINZ RULE 🍕 The pins turned out excellent, and the mini pizza boxes were a HUGE challenge, but I got them just how I wanted them. And the cherry on top is the greasy lil' backer cards to make this pure pizza perfection! I truly LOVE these pins and hope you do too. It's been a passion project I've wanted to accomplish for years and it finally happened. And it's all thanks to YOU reading this. What I'm trying to say is I'm going to pass out those Wookie Life-Debts all willy-nilly and give each of you one as well ✨
And for anyone curious what it look like to haul big bags. Here ya go!
As of the time of this writing I have shipped about 50% of the Pizza Pinz! I have to take a small break because I'm heading to PAX Unplugged (Board Game Con in Philly!) with the BackerKit team to hang out with the tabletop games community. I'll be gone starting tomorrow (in like 8 hours actually!) and will be returning on Monday. Once I'm back the reminder of the pins will be shipped off within the week. So I'm happy to report we are right on schedule and all the pins will be delivering before the holidays!
And one last thing. There was a point in time where I had 1500 mini pizza boxes laying around. I'd be a fool not to take the photo opportunity.

Hey pizza lovers!
I have a MEGA update coming soon with pics as all the pins have arrived and look glorious, all the mini pizza boxes are in hand and folded, all the greasy lil' backer cards look fantastic, and all my packaging materials are arriving in a few days. I'm about ready to start shipping these lil' pizza slices out!
BUT first I wanted an update to highlight the important fact that you now have 48 HOURS to edit your shipping address!
You should have received a separate email from BackerKit letting you know. Here are a few key details to be aware of:
You have 48 Hours to edit your address on file (the one I collected in your backer survey)
After 48 hours all orders are locked and I can begin printing shipping labels.
If you do not need to update your shipping address, you do not need to take any further actions. You're all set!
You are a cool person.
So that's it. Assuming nothing goes wrong, your Pizza Pinz will be shipping out between late November and early December. Just in time to stuff some stockings if you're into that kinda thing.

Hey friends! Hope you're all having a great week so far. I just came back form Essen Germany where I was attending Essen Spiel—the largest tabletop games convention in the world. For those of you that don't know, I also design tabletop games. Here's just a few if you're interested: Rental Rumble (Available Now), Realm Runners (Coming Soon), and Shape Shape (Coming Soon).
Enough about games, let's talk about pizza! Great news: all designs are finalized, they are officially well into production, AND they will be arriving at my doorstep in about a week and a half. Woo-hoo. We are right on schedule and it looks like I'll be getting these slices out the door in early to mid November as projected. It's rare these things are ever on time, but things have been going super smooth.
There was only one design error that has already been corrected. The Pixel Pie slice was missing some crusty bits. Here's a look at the finished slices and the corrected Pixel Pie slice.
They are going to be slightly larger than pins I've designed in the past. To ensure they don't slide around on your jacket or backpack I've made all the 1.5" designs double clasped for extra support.
Everyone has been charged and all your info is locked in. I still have around 20 people who need to fill out their survey. If you get it completed before I start shipping you may make the cut. Otherwise you will have to wait until after all the completed orders are fulfilled.

Things are rolling along smoothy—88% of you have completed you BackerKit survey. Great job!
BUT there are still a few stragglers out there that need to complete their survey to ensure they get their Pizza Pinz on time.

PLEASE fill out your BackerKit survey right now if you haven't yet as your survey choices will be locked in TOMORROW, Wednesday, September 21st at around 8 PM PST!
Here are your important dates:
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 21st — BackerKit Survey choices are locked meaning you can no longer adjust your orders. I need this info to send final counts to my manufacturer. Your address will still be editable if things change.
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 22nd —Credit cards will be charged for all orders with completed BackerKit surveys.
NOVEMBER 2022 —We are still on track for shipping out Pizza Pinz in November 2022. Woo-hoo! All pending manufacturing production schedules of course.
A few things to consider:
If your survey is not completed, your order will NOT be cancelled, BUT you will not be included in the first wave of shipping and your Pizza Pinz will be mailed at a later date. To avoid this, fill out your BackerKit survey now please.
Order your extra Pizza Pinz via your BackerKit survey as they are likely as cheap as they will ever be at just $10 USD each. MSRP for each Pizza Pinz pin complete in mini pizza box is $15 USD.
After orders are locked and cards are charged, you can still edit your shipping address. I will post an update when I am ready to lock shipping addresses.

Great news—by this time EVERYONE should have received their BackerKit backer survey via email. I can tell all is going smooth as 72% of you have already completed your surveys! Great job!
If you haven't seen it yet, please check SPAM folders and ensure you are looking in the inbox of the email you made your BackerKit account with tied to your pledge! Please fill this out ASAP so we can get these pizzas in the oven!
In your backer survey, you'll be able to do the following:
Choose the style of pin(s) you want based on the pledge level you chose during the campaign (Example: If your pledge level was "TWO [2] pins of your choice" you will first select the TWO [2] pins you want.)
Select additional pins you want to add to your order (optional). As a special thank-you to backers, you can select additional pins to add to your order for a discounted rate of $10 each. No limit!
Confirm your shipping address. You can always update your information any time before we finalize your address. You will get a reminder to confirm your address before we ship!
Add your payment info for shipping and add-ons. You WILL NOT be charged immediately. You will have a few weeks to adjust your orders. I have tentatively planned to charge cards around September 22nd. I'll post an update with a heads up.
Review and place your order. Remember, you can still edit your address and order until I lock it down. I will send an update before I do either with a few days heads up.

Hey friends, the moment you've all been waiting for has arrived—BackerKit surveys are coming for Pizza Pinz 🍕
Here's when you can expect to get your BackerKit survey and start choosing your Pizza Pinz pizza styles:
5% of you will get the survey at some point between TONIGHT (Tuesday, September 6th) and TOMORROW (Wednesday, September 7th). I'm sending out this small batch to ensure everything works smoothly.
Assuming all goes well, the rest of you can expect your survey between Wednesday and Thursday of this week.
Be sure to check the email address you use to sign into BackerKit and the one you made your pledge with. Once you get it, you can expect to provide the following:

THE FREE PINS
As a backer (at any level!), you will all automatically get ONE [1] "Pizza Saver" enamel pin added automatically to your order/cart for FREE. If you would like additional "Pizza Saver" pins, you can add them as your pledge choice(s) or as add-ons.
If you backed BOTH Pizza Pinz (Jason Furie) AND Bird Ita Bags (Corviforms), you will automatically get ONE [1] "Pigeon Party" enamel pin added to your order/cart for FREE. If you missed out, or if you would like additional "Pigeon Party" pins, you can add them as your pledge choice(s) or as add-ons. Party on!
Your free "Pigeon #1" pin from Bird Ita Bags (Corviforms) will come in your order from them, not your Pizza Pinz order.
SHIPPING
Your survey will reveal what your shipping costs are based on your region and your order weight. I spent a good portion of Saturday at USPS figuring out the best packaging and rates AND spent the rest of the weekend comparing notes with my fellow pin-makers. A lot of factors are at play here including the state of the world and it's affect on shipping, physical shipping costs, packaging costs, and handling time. Here are the final rates:
USA - $6
CANADA - $15
EVERYWHERE ELSE - $18
The simple fact is that these costs are out of my control and the world of shipping right now is complete mayhem. I hope you all trust I am doing the best I can. The good news is my estimates were really close with the exception of Canada—those prices have almost doubled. Since there are pins in this order I cannot consider these "Flats" and all packaged must be charged as "Parcel". If this will pose an issue with you, please reach out to me at jasonfurie@jasonfurie.com. I'm happy to chat about it, but again, these prices are out of my control and I will even take a hit on some regions.
YES, the prices are pretty consistent when you order 1-25 pins. So if you fall in that bracket, the shipping costs will remain the same. This is one of the reasons why I decided to offer ALL add-on pins for just $10.
PINEAPPLE ON PIZZA?
And don't forget! Our official "Should pineapple be on pizza?" vote starts NOW! If you think it should add a "YES - PINEAPPLE" pin to your order, if not add a "NO - PINEAPPLE" pin to your order. Each pin bought counts as 1 vote! If you buy both the data will be ruined! Just kidding, it'll be a neutral vote for each! We're going to settle this nonsense once and for all!

The mini pizza boxes have arrived and they are glorious! They just turned out perfect.
I wanted to share them as soon as possible so I took a few shots today for you all to enjoy. The pizza pin used here was the very first pizza pin I designed over 5 years ago—a nice slice of pineapple and jalapeño (my favorite) 🍍🔥
And note that the pins will each come in the box and on a backer card that simulates a lil' greasy pizza stain. A simple touch, but a completely necessary one in my humble opinion.

Two Custom Slices Join the Menu!

Not one but TWO of you chose the "Custom Slice" pledge level which granted you the ability to boss me around and order me to draw whatever ya darn well pleased! Well, after a few weeks of negotiating and arting (is that a word?), we came to a conclusion friends:
Our friend Lillie couldn't decide between a cat-themed slice featuring her two chunky loves OR a slice featuring the beloved California Poppy so we decided to just make one big happy slice featuring both. Who knew cats and poppies would make such a cut slice of pizza!?
And our friend Bayne shamelessly loves two things in life: "Space Ghost and Pizza"! I'm a sucker for all things 90's and have some fond memories watching the cult classic animated talk show Space Ghost Coast to Coast. What a wild and weird show that was, I love it. So this new Spectre slice is inspired by that kinda fun 90s nostalgia.
Two awesome new additions to our menu. And remember, these two slices will be available to ALL backers as an option via the backer surveys which should be heading your way in a week or so.
Now that all the slices are complete, I can submit my final pin manufacturing orders. While surveys are coming your way a smidge later than expected, everything else is ahead of schedule. Exciting times. Once I send surveys you'll be able to: choose the slices you want, add anything you'd like to your order, submit your current shipping address, and get an idea for shipping charges in your region.
Then all that's left the final charge for shipping, the manufacturing process, and getting your slices in the mail!

Hey pizza lovers! It's been 2 weeks since we've funded Pizza Pinz so I though I'd check in and give ya'll a status update. We have a lot of parts movin' and shakin' so let's dive in like my favorite cool but rude teenage mutant ninja turtle Raphael diving into a hot slice 😎
🔥 Backer funds comin' in hott 🔥 It looks like most all cards have been charged and the bulk of the funds will be hitting my account in the next week or so. This means I can start finalizing my pin designs and get them closer to official production with my manufacturer. A lot of the details are already sorted out, they are just waiting on all my final files which are about 90% complete.
💖 TWO new custom slices coming your way 💖 We had TWO backers choose the $300 "Custom Slice" pledge level and I'm in the process of working out those designs. Nothing to show you yet, but we've settled on the 2 new designs. They are:
CATlifornia Poppy Slice - A delicat combination of cute felines and dainty California Poppies spread across a hot n' ready slice of pie. In short, it's cats n' flowers y'all. Cats n' flowers...need I say more?
Space Specter Slice - Born from a backer's love of the show Space Ghost: Coast to Coast and, well, pizza! A combination I didn't see coming BUT exactly what custom slices are all about! Making things that wouldn't otherwise exist! Expect this one to be a cool sci-fi theme inspired by the aforementioned show!
These two slices are in the design phase right now and I hope to share their final form soon!
📦 Mini Pizza Boxes are coming 📦 Ok, this is fun. I've been working with an amazing company to make these mini pizza boxes just perfect. And they are so good people. The final boxes have been finalized and ordered. I will share some serious pictures with you once both the boxes and the pin backer cards arrive. I can't overhype these enough. They are perfect.

A big New York Style pizza slice thank you to all 489 of you who made this project happen! At the end of the day we raised $15,555 which is over 300% funded AND we unlocked each and every Mystery Slice. That last slice would not have happened without your extra help. I saw a lot of folks adding money to their pledge and upping their Pledge Levels in the last 24 hours. You rock 🤘
And on top of that TWO of you chose the "Custom Slice" Pledge Level which means I still have 2 new pizza slice designs to create. I'm not sure what those will be just yet, but they will be available for all to order once the surveys are sent. So stay tuned for that. I will reach out to the 2 backers soon so I can figure out what I'll be drawing.
SO WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!?
Your payment method will be charged today (it may have already happened for some). You will receive a confirmation email when your pledge is successfully processed.
I'll need 2 weeks to make sure all payments go through and any failed payments get a chance to update their info.
I'll use this time to work out what the custom slices will be and share in an update when I create them.
I'm finalizing the mini pizza boxes now, they look AWESOME, and I will be sure to show you all the final box once I have them in hand.

4 EASY WAYS WE CAN DO THIS TOGETHER:
CHOOSE A HIGHER PLEDGE LEVEL Get a few extra pins as gifts or just because you are a pin collecting monster. Either way, remember that the higher the pledge level you are in means the cheaper each individual pin will be. So more pins = cheaper pins. That's some good math!
ADD ADDITIONAL FUNDS TO YOUR ORDER Yes, you can do this! If you'd like to add some extra funds to your pledge you can totally do that. Any extra amount you add will convert into BackerKit credit after the campaign is over that you can use to get extra pins via your backer survey.
REMEMBER: you can add $10 for each additional pin you want to order.

The poll results are in to determine what new pizza design will unlock if we reach $15K in funding! As of the time of this update, we are at $13,698 with just 40 hours to go! We're so close 😅
Since you all are so amazing and supportive, I really wanted to hear from YOU which design I should draw next. And it looks like we have a clear winner:

And let me just put this out there. I have a lot of respect for you all, but there is a special place in my heart for the 4 of you that voted for Putrid Vomit Slice 🤮 Keep fighting the good fight.

Thanks to 384 of you, we've blown past our funding goal, have unlocked 3 out of 4 of the Mystery Slices, and have raised over $11K so far. That's more than 200% funded! That's a lot of pizza! I'm forever grateful that y'all are helping me fulfill a dream of mine — to manufacture deluxe pizza themed enamel pins packaged in mini pizza boxes! What can I say, I dream BIG!
As a thank-you I've decided to let YOU choose the final slice design that will unlock if we reach $15K in funding. Since I wanted to run this poll properly, I've extended the campaign length by a few days to make sure all the votes get counted. I also have a few more fun ways for us all to connect throughout the final week of Pizza Pinz on BackerKit.

Square-Cut Slice Joins the Menu!

Whoa! We've just unlocked Mystery Slice #3 by reaching $10K in funding which is 200% of goal!
✴️ Introducing the Square-Cut Slice!
This cut goes by many names, has many variations, and has many versions of its true origin story. Sicilian, Detroit-Style, St. Louis, Mid-West Style, Party-Cut, Tavern-Style...the list goes on. Sometimes it's spongy and thick, sometimes it's thin and crisp. But one thing is for sure, some folks just prefer the square-cut over the pie-cut. This new slice most resembles the Sicilian style.
There's one more planned Mystery Slice to unlock! I'll reveal the next design if we reach $15K in funding during this campaign. I'm going to keep this one a true mystery though.
BUT I have a few other surprises up my sleeve that may unlock more since we still have 2 weeks to go!

The first Mystery Slice we unlocked last week was a classic favorite, so this time around I wanted to include another specialty Slice. And since the first day of summer is upon us, I thought we could celebrate in style.

Hey everyone! Wow, what a great first week for Pizza Pinz. Not only are we 100% funded, but we've also passed our first Mystery Menu milestone of $6000. That means I'll be adding a brand new pizza slice to the menu for you all to choose from. And by the looks of our Should pineapple be on pizza!? thread, I think a lot of you will like this one! Some, not so much...
Introducing the Hawaiian Slice Pizza Pin!
I took a community poll before I launched this project, and my #1 request was the Hawaiian slice so I decided this would be a great first new pin to introduce.
Fear not, there are more new slices on the horizon. I'll reveal the next one if we reach $7500 in funding. Here's a clue to what the new slice will be: It's a summertime favorite and can really help cool you down on a hot day!

WELCOME to the Pizza Pinz crowdfunding campaign 🍕 I'm so glad you're here. Throughout this campaign I have a LOT of discussion prompts, polls, and surprises to share with you that will often result in a brand new pizza slice design. Today is just the beginning! This project isn't mine...it's ours.
Up first, I'm going to address the elephant in the room—should pineapple be on pizza!? It'a an age-old question argued over the fire-pit since the dawn of time and I'm ready to put this argument to rest already! Are you the type that loves the sweet and salty blend of this forbidden mixture, or does the sound of hot cheesy fruit make your stomach turn?
HOW IT WORKS
Choose a pledge level and become an official Pizza Pinz backer.
A few weeks after the campaign ends you'll get a survey where you choose the pins you want. Simply choose the YES TO PINEAPPLE pin or the NO TO PINEAPPLE PIN to cast your vote. You are literally putting your money where your mouth is.
I'll tally up the final orders once surveys are complete and share via a post-campaign update declaring the winner. (Yes, you will get the pin you choose no matter who wins.)
And in the meantime, be sure to COMMENT ON THIS UPDATE with your choice. All I ask is that you keep things nice and let us know a little bit about why you do or do not (there is no try) like pineapple on your pizza 🍍
