Can you explain the theming of the Undaunted Aegis? Is the idea that she selflessly protects others, taking on wounds in the process? Or perhaps does she focus solely on the defeat of her enemies no matter the cost and, therefore, can become corrupted in the process? Or something else entirely?

I think her character quote and the Steeled virtue point toward the former.

The former, sort of like a fantasy-style monk, who powers up through suffering.
