We've done it!
Nerdy Prudes Must Die premiered at the El Portal Theatre in Los Angeles, and was a big success! We are so, so grateful for the opportunity to hit the stage again, and we couldn't have done it without your help! Check out a few of our production photos below!

FAQ
WILL THE SHOW BE POSTED TO YOUTUBE/WHEN WILL IT BE POSTED? Yes! Nerdy Prudes will eventually be available for purchase via DVD/Digital Download, and for viewing on YouTube. We haven't set the release date yet, but look for it/an announcement late 2023, early 2024!
WILL THERE BE A CAST ALBUM? WHEN WILL IT BE RELEASED? Yes, there will be a Nerdy Prudes cast album! We haven't set the release date yet, it will coinside with the DVD/Digital Download/YouTube release and be available on the iTunes Store or digtal download in our merch store. Look for it/an announcement late 2023, early 2024!
WHEN WILL THE CAST ALBUM BE ON SPOTIFY/STREAMING? Initially, our cast albums are only available to purchase on iTunes or via our merch store. Buying the album is the best way you can support the show and all the artists involved!
We typically add our albums to Spotify/streaming at a later date, usually about a year after the initial release.
WHAT IS A DIGITAL TICKET? We're excited to give everyone the opportunity to see our live shows, even if you can't make it out in person. For the digital ticket, we film the show with one camera opening weekend, to get you a version you can watch as soon as possible!
HOW DO I WATCH IF I PRE-ORDERED A DIGITAL TICKET? If you pre-ordered the digital ticket, you were sent your link to watch via the email address connected to your PayPal account.

Soon, you’ll receive an email from us with a special link to your BackerKit survey. It’s important to respond to your survey as quickly as you can since we need this information to fulfill your rewards.
We'll be sending the links out on a rolling basis in the next week, so please be patient as we get them all out!
When you receive the email with the survey, click the link to respond. Answer the questions about your reward preferences (e.g. shirt size), provide your shipping information, and select any add-ons you purchased during the campaign. You can also purchase additional add-on items if you'd like! If you're receiving physical rewards, the survey will then calculate your total owed for shipping and collect your payment info. (Btw, we're sorry to note that due to the volatility of shipping prices globally right now, the final shipping prices are slightly higher than we had estimated in September.)
After you respond to your survey, you can go back later and change your responses at any time before we close the surveys and get our final counts. Once we counts are finalized, we'll have our pals at Ann Arbor Tees order and make everything to get it sent to you! (FYI you'll also receive a last call for addresses right before we ship, so you can update your address if you move between now and then)

So the StarKid Returns campaign ended this past Saturday. 6,110 backers raised $386,350 to help make a brand new season of live events and more! We couldn’t be more grateful to everyone who pledged and/or spread the word. And we can’t wait to make all these projects for you! Just to review, by helping this campaign become the huge success it was, you’ve ensured that StarKid will return with:
The Jangle Ball Tour - For the first time in over ten years, StarKid’s going on tour, and this one’s a holiday tour! Join us for a naughty & nice collection of StarKid tunes, featuring a first act of villain songs, and a second half that’s a full concert version of ‘VHS Christmas Carol!’ ‘The Jangle Ball Tour’ will run THIS DECEMBER through the east coast, midwest, and west coast. We’ll be stopping in Boston on Dec 2, Philadelphia on Dec 3, NYC on Dec 4, Chicago on Dec 8, Ann Arbor on Dec 11, LA on Dec 16, and more tour dates will be announced soon! Tickets for ‘The Jangle Ball’ go on sale November 1, with an exclusive backer presale on October 28.
Nerdy Prudes Must Die - Then, in February of 2023, go back to Hatchetfield for a new nightmare. ‘Nerdy Prudes Must Die’ is a teen-slasher-musical-comedy where the biggest losers at Hatchetfield High are being hunted by a supernatural bully with a grudge against nerds. The LIVE show will run in Los Angeles, CA, at the El Portal Theater in North Hollywood, February 16-25, 2023. Then, as always, a recorded version of the show will be released on YouTube some time later. We’ll share information about live ticket sales as soon as it’s available!
StarKid Labs - In addition to the live shows, StarKid will be launching a host of experimental projects, designed to explore new mediums and feature new creative voices. The initial batch of SK Lab projects will include:
Sissy - An absurdist, one-act play reading written by Corey Lubowich and directed by Corey Dorris, about a modern, gay Sisyphus who is tasked with feeding endless training data to a machine learning algorithm.
This Title Is Permanent - A podcast created and hosted by Lauren Lopez, where each episode will feature a very special guest and segments like: “Explain It To Me As If I Am A Child,” “A FULL CRAB SALAD,” and “Hey How Are You Good Thanks Could I Just Get A Spinach Feta Wrap and Two Egg Bites To Go Please?… That’s It, Thank You”!
Space Baby - A video, anthology series created and produced by Jaime Lyn Beatty & Curt Mega, wherein a telepathic, intergalactic infant will set out on a quest to unlock the mysteries of the universe by consuming short entertaining segments made by a diverse array of guest artists, from writers and directors, to animators and composers. As all the SK Lab projects are experiments, we don’t have concrete timelines for when they’ll be released, but when we do, you’ll be the first to know.
And in addition to all this, by reaching campaign stretch goals, you’ve also unlocked: the filming of ‘The Jangle Ball Tour’ (to be turned into a concert album & DVD), a YouTube release of ‘VHS Christmas Carol’ (coming soon), the “VIP POV Backstage Experience” (a digital, p.o.v. backstage tour/stage door encounter for BOTH ‘Jangle Ball’ and ‘Nerdy Prudes’), and the “SKLabumentary” (a featurette about the making of the three SK Labs projects).

Wow. Just wow. Less than two days away from the end of the campaign, and thus far you've managed to reach over $342,000 with over 5,450 backers!!! That's incredible. Words cannot express how grateful we all are. We can't wait to make these projects (the 'Jangle Ball' tour, 'Nerdy Prudes Must Die,' 'Space Baby,' the reading of 'Sissy,' and 'This Title Is Permanent') all the best they possibly can be. But before that happens, we've got one more event to finish off this campaign with a bang...
The 'STARKID RETURNS FINALE LIVESTREAM!' An 18 hour streaming marathon where we'll play games, answer questions, unlock fundraising benchmarks, and stay up all night to celebrate and countdown to the end of a very successful BackerKit campaign! It starts tomorrow night,Friday October 14 @ 9pm PT, and goes until the campaign ends on Saturday October 15 @ 3pm.

It's been a big couple days! With your help, we reached our initial funding goal and unlocked all of our Nerdy Prudes casting milestones, with a week left to go in the campaign! But as we've mentioned before, this is just the bare minimum budget for us to bring all 5 of these projects to life. So the more we raise, the better we can make these shows for you! Which is why we're announcing our first STRETCH GOAL:
That's right! At $300K, we'll be able to make a high quality Jangle Ball Concert Film that you'll be able to purchase to enjoy the show in perpetuity, no matter where you live! We thought the StarKid Homecoming concert film turned out great, and we're hoping to do something similar to that!
How can we get to that stretch goal and beyond?! Please continue to spread the word about the campaign to your fellow StarKids! Lots of folks still don't know we're back (dang algorithm!)... so let them know!

This time, we’re proud to announce that Jon Matteson will be returning to the Hatchetfield series in the role of Richie Lipschitz! When a supernatural killer starts hunting the nerdy prudes at Hatchetfield High, Richie and a cast of social rejects must band together to save themselves, the school, and the world! Jon joins previously announced Bryce Charles (as Detective Shapiro), Joey Richter (as Peter Spankoffski), Lauren Lopez (as Ruth Fleming),Mariah Rose Faith (as Stephanie Lauter), Angela Giarratana (as Grace Chasity), and Corey Dorris (as Mayor Solomon Lauter).
As we're still in the process of casting 'Nerdy Prudes,' this will be the last cast member reveal before our Hatchetfield livestream this weekend, but we've still got lots of tricks n' treats in store for you! If you were there, thanks for tuning to the 'Jangle Ball Tour Holiday Party Livestream!' If you couldn’t make it, no worries. You’ve still won the door prize: another ‘Jangle Ball’ tour date/city reveal! We're thrilled to announce that on Sunday, December 4th, StarKid’s coming to Irving Plaza in New York City!
We’ll share information about ticket sales as soon as we can. We’ve got more stops on the Jangle Ball Tour to announce. Not to mention upcoming news about campaign stretch goals, reward tier add-ons, project casting, and more! We’ll have more updates over the next few days, so check back often.

Boo! It’s officially Halloween-season, the perfect time for another ‘Nerdy Prudes Must Die’ casting reveal. And great news! By helping us reach 4,300 campaign backers, you’ve unlocked this awesome announcement! We’re so happy to share that Lauren Lopez will be returning to the Hatchetfield series, this time playing geeky teen, Ruth Fleming!
When a supernatural killer starts hunting the nerdy prudes at Hatchetfield High, Ruth must band together with her fellow losers for a fight to the finish! Lauren joins previously announced Mariah Rose Faith (as Stephanie Lauter), Angela Giarratana (as Grace Chasity), and Corey Dorris (as Mayor Solomon Lauter). We’ll have more ‘Nerdy Prudes’ casting reveals as the campaign progresses, so stayed tuned!
And in the meantime, keep up the great work! Remember, the initial BackerKit goal is just the base budget we’ll need to produce everything we’ve got planned for StarKid Returns. Again, we’ll release information about ticket sales as soon as we can. And until then, we’ve got another ’Nerdy Prudes’ cast member to reveal when the campaign reaches 4,300 backers. Look at you! You’ve helped push the BackerKit total past $238,000, and that means you’ve unlocked a ’Nerdy Prudes Must Die’ casting reveal. We’re thrilled to announce that Corey Dorris will be playing the role of Solomon Lauter, the Mayor of Hatchetfield! When a supernatural bully starts picking off his town’s resident nerdy prudes, Solomon leads the charge to catch the culprit. But does this mysterious mayor know more than he lets on?
Corey joins previously announced Mariah Rose Faith, who’ll be portraying Solomon’s rebellious daughter, Stephanie Lauter…
…and Angela Giarratana, who takes on the role of Hatchetfield’s biggest prude, Grace Chasity.
We’ve got more casting announcements to unlock, as well as ‘Jangle Ball’ tour dates & locations, so spread the word! A little over a week into the campaign, and we’re already 85% of the way to reaching our base BackerKit goal! Over 4,000 backers have helped raise over $237,000, and we couldn’t be more thankful.
Now we’re preparing to release more details about our upcoming projects, including casting announcements for ’Nerdy Prudes Must Die,’ and tour dates & cities for the ‘Jangle Ball!’ As we reach the following fundraising milestones, we’ll release the info!
First, we’re dangerously close to announcing the next performer who’ll be joining the cast of ‘Nerdy Prudes Must Die.’ Who’ll it be?! And who will they play?!? Get us a little closer to our initial BackerKit goal to find out!
Then, when we reach 4,100 backers, we’ll be dropping the first tour date & location for the ‘Jangle Ball!’ Curious to know if we’ll be coming to a city near you?! To start unlocking the deets, spread the word about the campaign and help us get as many backers as we can!

We’re a few days into the campaign, and already floored by the unbelievable outpouring of support. In the first 72 hours, over 3,000 backers have helped raise over $200,000. We’re about 75% of the way to our initial BackerKit goal, and we couldn’t be more grateful, humbled, honored, and ready to make an amazing season of events for all of you. Thank you SO much for this opportunity and thanks for being such an important part of all these projects!
As this is our first time partnering with BackerKit for a crowdfunding campaign, we’re learning a lot about how to make this the best possible experience for everyone. We really appreciate all the feedback we’ve received thus far. If you have any questions regarding rewards, or ticket sales, or anything else about the campaign, we might’ve already answered them! Be sure to check out the FAQ and Community tabs, where you’ll find loads of information and where you’ll be able to submit your own inquiries if you have some that haven’t been addressed yet. We’ll be checking those tabs often, and do our best to answer questions as they come in.
And now that everything is up and running, let’s have some fun! This Sunday (September 25) from 4-6pm PT, we’ll be hosting our first campaign livestream.
