Fade-to-Black to Begin the Story...

Player Character death strikes a final curtain for their storyteller. The tales that unfold after their passing are merely echoes of their past influence. We often commemorate the stories that lead up to a PC’s demise, but there is another story that lies dormant, resting untold in the flash between life and death.

A Most Brilliant Spark is a collaborative, card-driven, soul-searching TTRPG for 1-5 players who dare to ask, “can death offer a clarity that could not be found in life?” Choose a Player Character who died in-game and explore their hidden desires one last time by remixing core memories into a kaleidoscope of fantasy, psychedelia, and retrospection. Players will reveal random suits from a deck of cards to guide a dream-narrative in unpredictable ways and perhaps discover new resolutions to past life experiences. When the deck runs out, the dream ends, and so will, finally, the Player Character.

The Campaign Will Include

  • 12" x 12" dry/erase poster playmat

The Team

Mental Health Protocol Designer

Similar to Remember Frankie?, this zine can be used by mental health clinicians for various forms for expressive therapy. Kim is our lead protocol designer and is a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) in the state of MA and a board certified music therapist (MT-BC) who received her master's from Lesley University in 2017. Over the past decade, they have worked in outpatient, partial hospital programs, and in community mental health settings, centering social justice theory and cultural humility at the core of what it means to be trauma-informed. In 2020, she received intensive training in dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and, in 2022, training in cognitive processing therapy (CPT) for the treatment of trauma and PTSD. Kim is deeply passionate about integrating expressive therapy techniques into treatment to help challenging work feel more tolerable and accessible to a wide variety of individuals.

A Most Brilliant Soundtrack

Wil Cox is a composer and sound designer who also happens to love games. His work is highly cinematic, which makes sense given his background in film and television. As Coyote Senate he has released a number of records that bridge ambient, electronic, alternative, and metal. He is also the designer of the board game Shut Up, Cat! and is currently working on both new music and new games.
