Vejigantes are colorful folkloric masks found in Puerto Rican culture. Its artists add creative twists to their designs, and this pin set follows the festival spirit by combining Vejigantes and Jesters into a unique and whimsical reinterpretation!
Hello, I'm Cosmographia, and I'm an award-winning artist born and living in Puerto Rico.
Aside from my obsession with local anthropology and folklore, I also just really love jesters! I wanted to combine Vejigantes ( de Ponce (celebrated in Carnaval before Lent) and de Loíza (celebrated in the summer for El Festival de Santiago Apostol) into a clownish twist!
This is something I wanted to do for a long time, so I'm glad this is a project that COULD kick off the ground with your help!
I would love to get these pins made and include some historical/cultural context--as I did with the Cosmic Fish enamel pin set last year, so keep an eye out for stickers and goodies for this set!
THE DESIGN:
The designs will convey the festive whimsy of Vejigantes with a palette that reflects its jester inspirations. Stretch Goals will allow the sets to have a multitude of color variants for you to choose from.
THE PIN:
The design will be dyed metal pins with UV printing on top, to give them the lineless look and really make 'em POP!
