My name is Yasin and I am the founder of Møsabi. We are an Asian-owned, SF-based food CPG startup unlocking the culinarian's best kept secret: Leaf Lard or “豬油” (pronounced: zhu you)!
Leaf lard (豬油) is lard rendered from the highest quality fat found around the pig's kidneys. It is the equivalent of butterto Chinese cooking prized for its ability to add rich, savory depth to wok stir-fries, sautéed vegetables, all Chinese baked goods and pastries, and so much more. Loved universally across cultures, it will also make the flakiest pie-crusts, biscuits, cookies, pastries, and produce amazing textures for tortillas and other flatbreads. We are bringing back this “lost” culinary gem into kitchens. Bonus? Hopefully the deep-rooted nostalgia and cultural heritage of 豬油 helps our younger consumers reconnect with their roots and reminisce about grandma's cooking in their own kitchens.
Our product is unmatched anywhere else given our proprietary rendering technique to ensure the mildest flavor profile with a beautiful snow-white color at room temperature. We are able to push our yield higher which enables us to keep prices affordable while offering superior quality.
We have begun selling online and at select local farmers markets in the Bay Area. We are looking to use the Kickstarter Proceeds to procure equipment which will enable us to start large scale production so we can bring our product to grocery stores, foods stores, restaurants, and bakeries!
