Launching

October 2026

TarotWeaver is a tabletop roleplaying game inspired by the whimsical worlds like Adventure Time and Over the Garden Wall. Under the watchful eye of The Oracle, Weaver's move through the fantastical world of the Prismatic Vale. Gameplay is simple, focusing on player creativity and problem solving.

TarotWeaver is a classless game, allowing players the freedom to create and envision the characters they want to play. TarotWeaver's game system features:

  • comprehensive background generator.
  • flexible spell system that allows for hundreds of possible spell combinations.
  • 78 unique abilities.
  • Rules-lite "draw under" system.
  • Guidance on creating adventures using tarot cards.
  • Two adventures with explanations on how they were designed.
  • Random tables with 234 entries.
  • Bestiary with 32 monsters.
  • Optional rules for non-human characters (faefolks, rootfolk, greenfolk, gnomefolk, and wildfolk).
Taking inspiration from games like Whitehack, His Majesty the Worm, Cairn, Into the Odd, Mörk Borg and Dungeon World, TarotWeaver uses a simple “draw under” system that allows for quick and engaging gameplay and removes the barriers of complicated rules and double digit math.

After a successful campaign in 2024, we would love to bring TarotWeaver to print again. The rules have been heavily revised and streamlined, adding new backgrounds, traits, and an expanded section of Oracle advice to help run TarotWeaver.

Solo Play Rules and Version 7.1

TarotWeaver 7.1 is finally here!

  • Fixed several spelling and gramatical errors throughout.
  • Re-organized Aspects to be descriptor first, suit second. This feels more organic during play, and the alliterative nature of the Aspects this also allows for less friction in knowing which Aspect matches what suit (S = Strength = Swords, etc.). The Aspects are now as follows:
    • Strength (Swords)
    • Wits (Wands)
    • Charm (Cups)
    • Prowess (Pentacles)
  • Solo rules added! After some tinkering and using One Page Solo Engine by Inflatable Studios, I've heavily modified and converted OPSE to utilize Tarot cards without the need of dice. Its still a bit of a work in progress, but in my time playing through it it seemed to work surprisingly well. The tables and resources found in the solo rules section can also be used by an Oracle to flesh out a standard game.
  • Change in how injuries work. Your hit points reach 0 an injury is drawn, and your hit points bounce back to 1 until you recover or heal.

Arie and Sara are working on a new cover for the book as we move closer to our crowdfunding campaign in October. This has been a labor of love for the three of us, and we'd love to share the result with all of you.

You can find the PDF for free on itch.

Thanks everyone! Let us know if there's anything you'd like to see in the final version before we head to print.

Test Print of New Cards

We are also currently waiting on test prints of the new cards to come in. Switching from Roman Numerals to Arabic Numerals should help a lot with the games playability at the table. Each suit has also been given a symbol indicating its suit, allowing for easier reading.
