If you've ever been told your child's test scores "don't match their potential" - this is for them.

Adventure Read is a reading adventure that starts from the thing your kid already can't stop thinking about - deep sea animals, bugs, trains, ancient worlds - instead of whatever a curriculum picked.

Here's how it works:

Collect.

Your kid reads to earn characters - each one an immersive, meticulously-crafted world they unlock by reading.

Adventure.

Every character comes with authored story arcs to explore.

Simulate.

Stage the impossible match-ups - "what if the squid had laser eyes?" - grounded in real biology, sensory-safe, never violent.

Read, without the shame.

Every passage quietly adapts to exactly how your kid reads. No score in the corner. No "you're a Level 2 reader."

Here's the same kind of question in the reading software your kid has probably already tried:

Most reading apps: a stock photo, a ticking timer, a score out of 100.

And here's Adventure Read:

Adventure Read: Immersive reading

A world worth reading about - no clock, no score, just the next thing to discover.

It matters most when they get one wrong. Most apps tell them they failed:

Most reading apps: Sorry, incorrect...

... adding insult to injury with long (text based!) explanations for them to read.

Adventure Read just lights up the sentence that holds the answer:

Adventure Read: Gentle Correction

The story shows them where to look - and they keep going.

See it working. You get a real picture of your child's reading - growing globally and inside each interest - so you finally see the comprehension you always knew was there.

The deeper your kid's special interest goes, the more there is. That's the whole idea.

Why I built this

My son is nine. He's autistic and has apraxia of speech, which makes communication challenging in ways most people don't see. During a parent-teacher conference, his teacher told me something that broke my heart: she didn't think his reading comprehension scores were accurate. He'd get bored halfway through assessments and just start guessing - clicking through without reading.

At home, he was a walking encyclopedia of the things he loved - deep sea creatures, video game mechanics, ancient civilizations. He'd remember details I'd forgotten and make connections I hadn't seen. The problem was never his comprehension. It was that nobody had bothered to meet him where his interests lived.

So I started building this - a place where reading isn't a worksheet, it's a world worth exploring. It's not finished yet. But the first time I showed him what I had, he didn't want to stop - he kept asking what was in the next world, which creature he'd find. That's the whole reason I'm here: to finish it, for him, and for kids like him.

If your child learns differently - autism, ADHD, or simply a mind that doesn't fit a standard curriculum - if they have deep interests the worksheets ignore, if you've been told their scores "don't match their potential" - this is for you. For them.

We're launching on Kickstarter June 16. Follow to be first in - and to help us make this for your kid, too.
