Started DnD with a box and blue dice. still playing but not 5E.... 2.5-3e. Dm, player, sage. fool. played them all. I'm very much into the role play. Making a really unique character makes the game so much more than rolling dice. Sam is my favorite of LOTR, has the most character and growth.
