Diedert K.

Diedert has travelled through many countries on the quest for birds, visiting almost every single country and territory in Europe, including even Albania, Kosovo, and Serbia, as well as Georgia, the Canary Islands and Cyprus. His interest in bird specialities later took him to less-visited places such as Azerbaijan, Algeria, Madeira, the Azores and Western Sahara. Of course, countries such as Turkey, Morocco and Oman didn’t stay ‘un-travelled’ for long.  His explorations have since widened much further to include the countries of West Africa, Madagascar, East and Southeast Asia, the Caribbean, including the Lesser Antilles, South America, as well as far-flung places such as the Sulawesi Islands, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and Antarctica.

He has a keen interest in mammals as well as birds, including some of the world’s rarest, like the Iberian Lynx in Andalucia, Blue Whales in Antarctic waters, Eurasian Lynx in Estonia, Togian Babyrusa on its namesake islands and even the increasingly rare European Wildcat, which he has observed in a tiny border forest in the Netherlands.  Diedert is also an enthusiastic bird and mammal photographer.
