I'm an author and artist from out of Ontario Canada, who works slow but well, due to disability. I have various projects showcased on my Instagram under the name I have here (minus the "artist" part lol); and short stories within multi-person anthologies for sale on Amazon, under the same name. Although my disability has put writing on hiatus, I still create through art.
My current project is a series of 3d paintings called Wondrous Women With Their Treasured Things. They're not quite sculptures, more like painted frescoes on canvas. Basically, my paintings are sculpted pieces that are attached to the canvas. I use things like: tissue maché, yarn, different kinds of paper; including watercolor paintings, beads, wire, string, thin sheets of wood, etc. I incorporate them into acrylic paintings on canvas!
Each piece features a woman/women with (a) mythological physical feature(s) surrounded by multiple renditions of her/their favorite thing. I paint the woman in the mid-ground, backed by often less clear versions of the objects I have sculpted to pop off the canvas. It began as an idea: to make the focus of a painting not be in the foreground of the piece, but absolutely surrounded by it; and who doesn't love being surrounded by their favorite thing?
I hope to soon have some prints available! Who knows, perhaps I'll have merch of these characters here in the future!
