What is Threads We Share?

Every relationship tells a tale. What story will you unravel?

Threads We Share is a quiet, intimate storytelling game for 1 (solo), 2 (duet), or 3 (polycule) players about the emotional arc of a relationship. Whether you weave this tapestry alone or in the company of friends, whether your lead your characters to a love everlasting or a bitter end... threads will guide your way. Led by tarot. Built on consent. Shaped by the story you choose to tell.

Who is this game for?
This game is for you if:
  • You value unique mechanics
  • You love emotional, character-driven stories
  • You enjoy quiet, reflective play without pressure
  • You have an interest in tarot or want to learn more

This game might not be for you if:
  • You prefer large groups
  • You dislike narrative roleplay
  • You want tactical combat or crunchy mechanics
Is this a romance game? It can be but it doesn’t have to be. This is a game about connection.

A soft conversation at midnight. A hand held too long. A truth spoken too late. A choice that changes everything. A thread remembered, even when the people are gone. These are the moments that shape a relationship.  Threads We Share provides the framework for all kinds of stories:
  • Romantic
  • Platonic
  • Complicated
  • Unfinished
  • Something harder to name

You decide the nature of the relationship together. The game supports the story you want to tell, not a preset narrative. Though intended for adults, Threads We Share is not sexualized. The focus is always on how connection feels, not what bodies do.

How to Play

Threads We Share invites you to explore a relationship across three defining moments in time: First Touch, Shared Skin, and Unraveling. Using simple mechanics and easy to learn tarot concepts as guidance, you play the moments that linger in a world of your own design.

Quick Setup

First, players must choose the type of relationship they will play through, creating a seed from which your story will grow. Did you spend one romantic summer together that neither or you are willing to let go of? Or perhaps you share a bond brought on by tragedy or a missed connection rekindled. Choose from a list or create your own. After all, this is your seed, your story. You will then each make characters with desires, flaws, depth, and fears that you will use to play out scenes in a game.

Cross-Collab Partnership

We’re thrilled to be teaming up with The Wanderer’s Bookshop, a slow-life journaling game where you step into the shoes of a magical bookshop curator, collect stories, read enchanted tomes, and search for your own "white whale" of a literary answer. Whether you’re exploring solo or sharing discoveries with friends, the game blends tarot guidance, journal writing, and thoughtful play into a cozy, narrative experience that perfectly complements Threads We Share.
Threads We Share and The Wandering Bookshop are Teaming Up!

Back Threads We Share and The Wanderer's Bookshop during our campaign, and you’ll unlock an exclusive major arcana printable guide designed especially for supporters of both projects. It's a creative celebration of storytelling, connection, and shared imagination that simplifies play of both zines.
