Backerkit is a crowdfunding platform similar to Kickstarter and Indigogo. It is a way for you, to help an artist, creator, inventor, or dreamer bring a project to life. Many projects are held back due to the up-front cost such as manufacturing, and crowdfunding is a way to help fund those costs. Without amazing people like you, projects like this and many others would never be brought to life!
π²How Does Payment Work?π²
Backerkick works on a pledge now, pay later basis. If the project fails to become fully funded for the initial goal, then you are not charged for it. If the campaign hits its goal, then you will be charged after its conclusion for your initial pledge and add-ons, during the survey you will be charged shipping. Until the campaign ends you can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your pledge.
π How Do I Pick My Rewards? π
Once the campaign concludes, and if it is fully funded, then surveys will be sent out. During these surveys, you will be able to make final add-ons and select your pins and other pledged rewards. Surveys are also important because they supply me with your shipping details. No information collected will be distributed outside of it's sole use to make sure your rewards make it to you.
π¦ Why am I being charged again in the survey? π¦
The survey is both where the additional cost of add-ons as well as shipping are calculated. You are not being charged for your pledge again, but are paying for any added items and the cost of shipping. If your payment failed during the first round of collections, you can also resolve that payment problem during the survey too.
This project was born from a need I found in my own life. I'm a huge fan of tabletop games, from card games to board games, and the board games are what set me down this path. The square boxes of board games sometimes fit awkwardly in my book bags while I wanted to go somewhere, or were too large to the point I couldn't fully zip the bag. So, I decided to work on a way to fit all sorts of boxes, and more!
Estimated Timeline! Campaign (May): The campaign will run along with the other projects in the Bag Baazar in May! Surveys (June): The surveys will be open in June, once closed, an order will be placed, and production will begin. Production (July-September): Production of the bags, and shipping to me. Quality Checking (September - October): I will check every bag to ensure they are up to standard before being shipped out! Shipping (November-December): Extra time has been added here because it is the holiday season. With the passing of my grandfather this year, my family has become scattered without a central meeting place, and I now have to travel significantly to see the various branches of my family. Project Closes (January): It's my goal to have everything shipped and closed by the end of January!
At this time, I am unable to ship internationally for this project, but I hope to figure out the logistics for it at a later date. For now, it is shipping to the USA only.
Domestic Shipping Estimates (to the US):
One Mimic Case =$10
Two Mimic Cases+ = $15
One Mimic Bag = $20
Two Backpacks+ = $25
If tariffs or any other issues arise, there may be a change in shipping plans on my side but I will not pass this cost onto you, the pledgers.
Hello Everyone! I'm Dakota, the artist and creator behind Wayward Enigma Designs. I love drawing, playing video games, and learning more about the world through documentaries.
What made you become an artist? I'm a stage 4 cancer survivor and find that this experience changed how I view and interact with the world. It was always my dream to do art, I even attempted to go to art school before leaving for personal reasons to study business instead. Although my love of art never went away. After my diagnosis, I promised myself I'd work for my dreams if I survived. And I did! My art business is a promise to myself, and a way to send my art all over the world! So if anything ever happens, I can leave the world knowing I left an artistic handprint behind.
Did you go to art school? I did for one semester, but due to personal reasons left, so I moved back home and studied business instead.
Do you do art full-time? I wish, and one day I hope to. For now, I work in fiscal services by day and work on my art at night and weekends!
Do you go to events? I do! In 2025, I did and will do many events in Illinois. In 2026, I hope to slowly expand to further shows!
