Hello and welcome to our latest project; the Limbo of Dreams!

This project was inspired by a want to raise awareness for sleep disorders, something that greatly effects us here at CritCreations and likely effects many more people than you'd think! From things as common as Insomnia to as rare as Narcolepsy there are many disorders that go unnoticed by the waking world. In addition to awareness, a portion of our proceeds, and 100% of the "Donation" Add-ons will go directly to the Narcolepsy Network, a non-profit organization that educates, supports, and researches cures for Narcolepsy. 

Tokii, the artist of CritCreations, is narcoleptic. Medicines to combat this, very often needed for her and other narcoleptics to function at all in their day to day lives, are ridiculously expensive. and it's because of charities like the Narcolepsy Network that people like Tokii are able to obtain that medication.
Her narcolepsy medication would have cost us a five-figure expense each month - something that we cannot even begin to afford. However, with the help of charities like the Narcolepsy Network that price has been lowered from $XX,XXX to a sum total of $0.00.
Our business and our lives are only allowed to thrive because we were able to get the support we need. Now it's time for us to give back what we can with this campaign.

I'm a Half Japanese, Half Filipino workaholic artist that loves folklore, fantasy, creatures, and everything inbetween. I like to surround myself with things that challenge me to constantly learn, and share with the world. My past history began with shadowing under Disney Artists in Disney Dreamer's Academy, entering in competitions and shows while earning my bachelor's degree in Visual Effects, and then using what I learned to help advance different industries in the CG space like in Private Defense, working in commercials, Film, and even dabbling in CyberSecurity. If it's something I can study, or work on, I'm probably already head deep.
My chaotic adventure wrought life is more reigned in now that I have an official manager, who also happens to be my partner and best friend- Jacob. Though, I think it's my job to push his buttons to see what I can get away with.

Personal note for this project specifically From Tokii: 

Being a child from a religious family there was little understanding for medical conditions of my kind. those that didn't have scars, or visible wounds, and were assumed you can "power through it". 

At the age of 13 I had symptom onset for Narcolepsy, asides from falling asleep during classes, unable to stay asleep, constant lucid dreams that made me question my memories- I most severely suffered from sleep paralysis with full sensory hallucinations, indistinguishable from reality. Creatures with limbs too long, with too many bones over stretched skin, too many teeth, with voices layered like discordant harmonics...I suffered from SP episodes 3-7 times a day. And when I did confide in my mother, she blamed my condition on not praying enough. that I was doing something wrong. 

I stayed silent about my condition until after college at the age 21, when I was working as an engineer. throughout college I had cataplexy on intense emotions like stress, or anger, so if I get surprised my body buckles. My Sleep attacks and cataplexy were so intense that I would have my own private chair in a supply closet in the facility in case I needed to hide. I struggled to drive on my own, and had to be careful everywhere I went. 

I didn't understand what was happening to me until I finally talked to Neurologist, Dr. Rajnish Dhawan, where he mentioned I had textbook Narcolepsy type 1. I went through over night and Multiple Sleep Latency test hooked up to machines in a sleep facility to read my brain waves to confirm. I had sleep onset REM, where parts of my brain went to sleep within 2 minutes of lying down, explaining my hallucinations- where I was conscious but due to lack of sensory input on my asleep parts of my brain it caused intense hallucinations. 
After diagnosis I went through a few trials of medication, and one in particular- (shockingly, the infamous Date Rape Drug) became my cure. I stand today nearly asymptomatic from my first few doses years ago. 

I don't think I ever would have known about Narcolepsy if I haven't read Homestuck as a teen, where one of the main characters suffered from it. Narcolepsy is so rare, that only .02% of the population officially has it diagnosed, so I thought the chances that I had the condition was impossible at best. But I believe that this rate is only low because sleep conditions have been normalized as a punchline for popular media or pushed aside as a lack of discipline or will power to overcome. That many people suffer from it, and just don't know.

I hope with this project it will bring more awareness to sleep disorders like mine, where maybe it will save people from a lifetime of secrecy and wondering, and be able to live a normal life by just knowing. 

Jacob - The Problem-Solver & "Goose Tamer"
While my partner Tokii handles the artistic side of CritCreations I handle research and numbers. With my knack for numbers and having worked from a young age in my father's small construction business I've discovered I'm well-suited for running our business financially. Though, while I am good with numbers my greatest love is the research. I enjoy both history and storytelling which has made finding and relaying the information for our projects a fantastic task that I am utmost satisfied in doing. - I also keep my favorite artist on a tight leash, lest she burn herself out by working too hard.

We believe in human made designs with depth - not just things that look cool, but pieces that hold meaning, tell a story, or educate. In this we strive that we also procure quality in our work, and something that can be treasured by our supporters whether that be for the artwork, the story behind it, or the combination of the two.

You “Pledge” to receive the pins of your choice! Higher pledge tiers will have exciting extras like a free patch, stickers, or other goodies depending on the level!

Our initial goal is to fund the first pin, and every add-on. The more raised, the more pins will go into production!

This is an all-or-nothing campaign, so you won’t be charged right until the end of the campaign.

Once the campaign concludes, and if it is fully funded, surveys will be sent out. During these surveys, you will be able to make final add-ons and select your pins and other pledged rewards. 

Surveys are also important because they supply your shipping details. ter the campaign is over, you can select your rewards from the designs that have been unlocked. 

Charity:
At the end of the campaign a portion of our proceeds will go to the non-profit Narcolepsy Network to help them toward educating, supporting, and advocating those with the rare sleep disorder; Narcolepsy (The artist's sleep disorder- go to the About section for more of her story). 100% of funds from the "Donation" Addons will go directly to the non-profit, ontop of the donation we'll be making on our end.

Early bird spots are limited to the first 48 hours. If you un-pledge during the campaign you will not be able to re-pledge for the early bird deal again if it's past 48 hours, even if someone else drops their spot!

Pay-Over-Time
If you opt into pay over time, (eligible for any pledge over $150) you can pay your pledge in increments. NOTE: You will not receive your survey till you complete your payments! We will do our best to order extra to ensure we have enough stock for your pledge. Completing sooner is better!

* After the campaign, pins will be available as blind bags and at a higher price as individuals in our shop., Pledging during the campaign allows for the opportunity to pick your favourite design, or all the designs without chance at a lower price.

Where can I even start on this project? From what I know it's an interactive campaign following a blight that has infected a once pristine enchanted forest, now the creatures within are forced to adapt to their new home or succumb to it's vile forces. Toadstown mentions inspirations of D&D's Feywild as well as the movie The Thing from 1982 - with all that context they've followed through with some spine-shivering pin designs that are gorgeous in all the right morbid ways... I'm pumped to see what else their project will feature!

If you're a fan of tall dark and handsome, then you'll no doubt be clawing to get your hands on some of the pins featured in this project. Kira Night brings to us some sharp looking suitors that are accurately stated to be "a little elegant, and a lot strange." These portait-styled pins glisten in gold contrasted with deep brooding blues and bright ravishing reds - each one looking like it could've been taken right from an otome game ;>

Our first encounter with one of Nymbell's projects was during this year's Pinquest where they featured their "Of Beasts and Stars" project, and I am thrilled to see that their art style is just as charismatic and unique as it was earlier this year! This project features families of dragons who's heritage of designs are based off of a variety of different concepts - I for one have my eyes glued on their fall dragons!

I'm gonna start this one off by saying that the pins featured in this campaign should come with a choking hazard warning because oh my lord are they looking delicious. Even outside of the scrumptious looking mini pins, Elm Tree features some amazing designs for their full-scale pins that give me the same vibes as the game potion craft or even the Hexerei Minecraft mod! Very witchy, very yummy, very good I want.

We're big fans of real world mythology, and for those of you who enjoyed our Midnight Festival campaigns I would highly suggest taking a look at Natasja's pins from the tall tales of Japanese mythology. Not only are their designs breathtakingly awesome, but they also feature some yokai that I hadn't heard of before - AND they're planning on doing some colorways of all their designs as they hit stretchgoals? Super. Cool.
