Deeds Drawn is a stand-alone, narrative-driven, pocket TTRPG for storytellers and strategists. Your cards are your character, your skills, and your adventure oracle. Built for solo and cooperative play.
Just a Deck and a d6 Our goal was to fit an entire TTRPG in your pocket... or get pretty close. Deeds Drawn uses a unique deck of cards and a d6 for core resolution. That's it. If you've got some paper on hand, the narrative nature of the game makes it especially suitable to folks who enjoy journal gaming, as well.
Character Building Who will you become in Deeds Drawn? Choose a Lineage card, pair it with a Class, and Trait cards to round out your character. It's super quick, and allows for loads of diversity at the same time.
Character building is quick and easy, it just takes a few cards.
Quest by Quest, Scene by Scene Each quest is formed with a combination of cards that make up a sort of ad-lib adventure. Once you know the quest, you'll take steps to achieve it, and pull cards to identify surprises and challenges. During a challenge, you'll use a combination of character cards and dice rolls to resolve it.
Cards as Resources Each card comprising your character (and that of your enemies) has associated skills and efforts described by abstract phrases. You'll expend cards to overcome challenges scene by scene, relying on your ingenuity as a player to align them with the narrative. Facing a raging river? Maybe your "giant stature" gets an advantage wading through it. Dealing with a magical trap? Your "puzzle intuition" helps you decipher and circumvent it.
Cards are temporarily exhausted when used up, and recovered when you've got a chance to rest. You'll need to be judicious about which cards you use for which challenges, so you've got enough gas in the tank to complete your quest.
Solo or Group Play There are enough cards in the deck (currently 60) that a few friends can roll up characters together, and play the game similar to how you would a standard, GM-less TTRPG... but without the pen and paper (unless you want to!)
About This Project Deeds Drawn is built upon my first BackerKit project, Distal, using its IP to frame the world, characters, and consequences. The goals for this project are really two fold. The first is to get enough art to round out the odds and ends that aren't present or don't work. The second is, frankly, to help keep me fed. I'm a game designer by trade, but have been trying to avoid going back to the corporate nightmare that is the games industry right now. I just want to stay indie and create things people will enjoy.
Hey there, I'm Michael Henderson, better known as Wrelby most folks. I'm the solo author, designer, and jack-of-all-trades on this project, and Distal, which was my first project on Backerkit! Making amazing things to share with others is my lifeblood.
