How long can you survive before you succumb to the darkness?

An image that reads: "Midnight in Jubilation". Beside the text is an eye that appears almost spray painted on, and as if its weeping blood.

Welcome to Jubilation; a small town that tourists rarely visit and locals rarely leave. A town full of secrets and monsters. A town hungering for a new overnight radio presenter.

You were desperate enough to accept the offer without asking too many questions. Now you’re in Jubilation, broadcasting to a sleepless audience that mysteriously triples in size once the sun goes down.

“Good evening, Night Stalkers and Sleep Talkers, you’re listening to Jubilation Radio. We are here and so are you.”

An image of a town map from an overhead perspective, at enough distance that no houses are visible. Only main streets and outlines of occupied land. Sixteen locations are highlighted with numbers in dark squares. To the side is text that reads: "Welcome to Jubilation, everywhere/nowhere, population 2,500." Below which are three check boxes with the text: "12+ Locations, 18 Unique NPCs, Horrific Threats and Bizarre Encounters". In the bottom right corner is an image of a snarling person's face looming over a microphone as a wolf's head splits from the top of their skull. A rough speech bubble from their lower mouth reads: "Plus scraps alluding to the fate of your predecessor".

Midnight in Jubilation is an urban horror RPG for solo journalling. You will play as the newest overnight radio presenter in a small, strange town called Jubilation. You’ll be taking unsettling calls at the Radio Station, helping to decide what makes up the nightly broadcast, while attempting to survive for as long as possible.

If you’re lucky, you might even live long enough to find out what happened to Jubilation’s last overnight presenter.

An image of a hand holding a book, while the same book is open on the edge of a flat surface in the background, the pages facing down, and the back cover hanging down. The front cover reads: "Midnight in Jubilation. By Dorian Blackwood." The central image is of a silhouetted figure falling away from a large, black moon. There are angular lines behind them, also in black.

This 80+ page A5 book features extensive narrative guides for playing at the radio station and prompts for exploring the town. This includes over a dozen different locations, eighteen unique non-player characters to interact with, threats to be faced, and other horrific or bizarre encounters. As well as history handouts to unravel the cruel fate of your predecessor.

This book also features art from the libraries of the incomparable Stregawolf van den Berg and Kyle Ferrin!

As part of the Backerkit campaign, Midnight in Jubilation will be available as both a softcover book and screen readable PDF, with a plain text version. If you’d like to purchase a physical book, this may be your only chance!

A banner that reads: "Download the free preview on Itch.io", followed by an image of a hand tapping on the banner with one finger. Beneath that heading are screenshots of a two-page spread and completed character sheet with an icon indicating downloading a file.

Are you ready to become the victim–that is, the voice of Jubilation Radio?

A book cover. There is graffiti of an eye in the top right corner which appears to be weeping blood, and a toothy maw visible in the lower left projected onto a full moon nestled into a crescent moon. The heading text reads: “Midnight in Jubilation”. The body text below reads: “Midnight in Jubilation is an urban horror roleplaying game, designed for solo journalling. In this game you will play as the newest overnight radio presenter in a small, strange town called Jubilation. A place full of secrets and monsters. You will take twisted calls at the radio station, help to decide what makes up the nightly broadcast, and attempt to survive for as long as possible”. At the bottom of the body text is a quote, highlighted with contrasting streaks. It reads: “Good evening, Night Stalkers and Sleep Talkers, you’re listening to Jubilation Radio. We are here and so are you.” Beneath the quote are dark images of houses with boarded up windows, and further text which reads: “Midnight in Jubilation is perfect for those who prefer tales about a dark descent to stories that end happily ever after. Blackwood Press. Solo. Horror”.

About the Game and the Creator

Hello, dear readers. My name is Dorian Blackwood (they/them). I am a disabled creator who has recently begun combining their love of TTRPGs and creative writing! I have been playing TTRPGs for over about two decades now, and it means so much to me to be able to share my own game ideas with people who love this hobby as much as I do. As a disabled creator, I am also passionate about accessibility. This is why I am learning how to make TTRPGs more accessible, and will be working hard to ensure the PDFs of this game are screen readable.

Midnight in Jubilation comes from an idea for a strange, monstrous town that I kept imagining after I was thoroughly terrified by the movie Pontypool–based on the Tony Burgess novel Pontypool Changes Everything. Add to that my love of weird tales, gothic horror, tropes about alternate realities, and Jubilation was born. I have already had so many wonderful, twisted tales shared with me by my playtesters, and I can’t wait for you all to find your own horrors in this game. May they find you when you least expect it, where no one will hear you scream.

Human Made

An artistic rendering of a hand in black. Between the thumb and index finger there is a swirl that extends to the middle of the palm which has not been filled in. There is also a similar curving line near the base of the hand, on the pinkie-finger side, that stops in the middle of the palm below the swirl. Beneath it is text that reads: "Human Made".

100% Human Made. No AI was used in any stage of the writing, layout, or broader game design process.
