A new level has been discovered beneath the Castle of the Mad Archmage! On the western edge of the 5th level, new corridors have appeared, leading off into unknown regions of the dungeons. An expansion module for Castle of the Mad Archmage.
More than a decade ago, I started the Castle of the Mad Archmage™ project as a labor of love. I began posting levels of my homage to the original dungeons run by Gary in Lake Geneva to my blog (with crude hand-drawn maps), and the reception was overwhelmingly positive. Eventually I took the whole, added art and digital cartography, and published it in 2014 as the Castle of the Mad Archmage™.
In the years since then, the Castle has grown with side levels and other additional material, plus a 10th anniversary edition in 2024. Now, yet another such side level is revealed; the Vaulted Halls of Night.
Intended as an expansion and extension of the Core Levels of the Castle, the Vaulted Halls of Night can also be played as a standalone dungeon adventure. Some outside force is invading the dungeons of the Castle, and the player characters will find themselves with enemies on all sides, and allies if they are clever. Features multiple factions, level-wide magical effects, and several new monsters.
The Vaulted Halls of Night is written for the Adventures Dark and Deep™ rules, but can be used with almost any Old School game with little or no modification.
BRW Games™ has successfully run 9 different crowdfunding campaigns, all of which delivered either on-time or early. Still, there are always some risks, and we have attempted to identify and mitigate them as follows.
Writing: The main text of the adventure is already written. It just needs editing, art, and layout.
Artwork: Alternatives are available in case something happens to one or more of our primary artists.
Shipping: We have attempted to mitigate the risks associated with shipping by having backers order their own books directly from the printer at cost. You will need to pay for printing (at cost) and shipping when you order it from the printer. If you don't order the book yourself, it will not arrive!
Fulfillment: Fulfillment of digital books, and printing of physical books, will be done by DriveThruRPG, the leading print-on-demand RPG partner.
