Dark Conspiracy is a science fiction roleplaying game based on the Traveller rules engine. Set in our own modern world – or just a few years hence - a terrible threat lurks in the shadows, utterly unknown by most of humanity. If the world is to be kept safe, this ignorance must be maintained. A conspiracy of secrecy, lies and darkness must be constructed for the greater good of all.

The danger is real. Ravenous creatures from dimensions beyond our comprehension press against the veil separating worlds. Their motives are unknown, but it is clear that they delight in suffering, chaos and pain. In the past, they have gone by many names; ghosts, bogeymen, supernatural phenomena, and cryptids. 

Dark Minions are so much more. 

The wider world cannot learn about this threat. No one knows the extent to which it has corrupted the power structures of the planet, and we are wholly unprepared for this war – right now, we do not even know the nature of the threat, what its goals are, or just what it is capable of.

 

Actions taken against the ultimate evil must be done with the utmost secrecy, whatever the cost.

 

If an otherworldly entity is terrorising a small settlement, perhaps a farming community in the Midwest of the USA or a remote village in eastern Europe, a cell will be instructed to investigate and neutralise the threat. Once this mission has been accomplished, you will be required to concoct and distribute a cover story to disguise the nature of the enemy you vanquished. Any deaths might be put down to a crazed animal, bandits, or a strange set of coincidences involving turbulent weather and a secret government programme testing new drone technology. This fiction is propagated throughout local media and the Internet.

 

However, if this entity manifested in a way that left no doubt as to its otherworldly origins, then you have a terrible decision to make – at this time, when the entire world and every man, woman and child upon it hangs in the balance, no one can learn of the truth behind the Dark Conspiracy. By any means necessary must become the overriding tenet of every Operative, however terrible the results. 

There are no exceptions.

The alternative is unthinkable. 

The alternative is untenable.

The alternative is not an option.
