One of you has time. One of you doesn’t. All you have is this conversation.
If I Were You is a two-player conversational tabletop roleplaying game played entirely through dialogue.
There are no dice, no stats, and no shared objective. A fragile connection forms between two people who should not be able to speak. You may not understand why the connection exists, only that it does.
You will never meet.
The conversation will not last forever.
But you will be changed
Play begins with a single question.
From there, the game unfolds through natural conversation, shaped by prompts, interruptions, and sudden endings. Cards are tools that shift tone, introduce pressure, or end the exchange entirely.
This is a quiet, intimate game about misalignment, projection, hesitation, and uncertainty.
It is not about solving a problem or reaching agreement. It is about what happens when two people try to understand each other while standing in very different places.
Every session is unrepeatable. Every conversation leaves something behind.
This game is for players who enjoy:
Two-player and duet games
Narrative-first and experimental RPGs
Conversation-driven play
Ambiguity and emotional realism
Re-playable games where no two sessions are the same
Games that explore characters that are formed during play
You are helping fund a full version of this game. The full game will includes:
Prompt cards to guide conversation
Transmission Enders that interrupt or conclude play
Plot Twists that reframe and change the tone of the conversation
Asymmetrical roles and guidance
Safety tools and content considerations
Backing the project will help fund a physical card game, original artwork, and an optional companion app for accessible and remote play.
