I started designing this pin set in December of 2024 with the help of my 5 year old son. I didn't intend these to be pins, but here is what happend.
He was hanging out with me in the studio and I asked him what I should draw. I expected him to request an animal or a car or something like that but to my surprise he said the alphabet. After a few follow up questions it seemed he really did mean exactly what he had said. So we set about a multi-week project of designing our own font, creating each letter line by line, not just typed text.
When we were finished he was quite pleased. I asked him if he wanted to do anything else with this project. He suggested we should decorate the letters! I suggested several boyish themes that I thought he might like, but he shot them all down.
"Mommy like flowers.", he said. It seemed that he had a different audience in mind than himself. ♥
And so we decorated each letter with vines, leaves and flowers and had a wonderful time doing it!
When we finished up the designs in late January he told me that he couldn't wait to give Mommy her letter M pin...
I hadn't intended these to be pins, it was just something fun we were doing together, but after mulling it over I think he was right. I believe that these should indeed be made as pins.
I can't help but smile and think of these as 'love letters' from a little boy to his mother.
