Project Update: THAT'S THE CHECKERED FLAG!!! THE RACE IS OVER!

And we all won!

Thanks to everyone who showed up and supported F-Infiniti by pledging, or just by shouting about it! Our team is deeply excited to finish the game and get it into your hands!

For now we are going to take the weekend to relax, play games, and breath.

That said, Wes & I will be live tomorrow night for Part 2 of our F-Infiniti public playtest over on Youtube & Twitch.

Special shout out the backer who stepped into The Angels Inner Circle and skyrocketed us past the GULP stretch goal!

Joan & I will follow up in a couple of weeks with more details about the development process, and we will keep you up to date on what is happening when there are updates to be made!

Thanks,

Tony
Plus One & Friends

PS: While this team works on F-Infiniti, Navaar Jackson's Soothwardens is coming up next month on Kickstarter & Kyle Tam's Moriah will be right here in 2 months on Backerkit.

We will be putting the quickstart versions of both of these games out for free next week, and I'll make sure we drop our backers a copy here!

Project Update: STRETCH GOAL UNLOCKED & 24H LEFT!

£60k Hit! New Stretch Goal Unlocked!!
Howdy Outlaws!

Thanks to all your amazing support, we've passed £60k and unlocked the next stretch goal – a Map of The Reach designed by Orbital Blues artist and co-creator Joshua Clark. This huge, double-sided poster will feature a full, skeuomorphic map on one side and a tonne of GM advice, locations, random encounters, plot hooks and more on the other.

Grab physical copies as an add-on to your pledge (or if you've backed at the Starship Captain level you'll get it added automatically included). The digital version will be made available free to all backers of Outlaws and Corporations when it's completed.

This is one of Josh's maps that featured in Orbital Blues: Afterburn and is a great example of the amazing work you can expect to see from him for The Map of the Reach.

Don't forget to also add-on physical copies of both our previous stretch goals, including a notepad of tear-away character sheets and the upgraded adventure zine ATMOSPHERIC BREAKUP from Orbital Blues’ co-creator Zach Cox’s . Digital versions of both will also being made available for free for all backers.

If you want to get a sneak peek preview of Atmospheric Breakup, see how it could play out at your table and watch some of the best performers in the Actual Play space make some space cowboys really sad, catch up on a special two-part mini series of it here.

Orbital Blues Month is in its last few hours, so we just want to say a massive thank you again for your support! We couldn’t do it without you.  Please tell your allies, marks and bounties to come and check out Orbital Blues Month in its final countdown.

Project Update: Last Week! Thank you.

I don't recall whether I've said it before, but I was pretty sure funding would happen, but it'd be a struggle. I didn't expect to go over 4x the amount I set out to raise for this thing.

I wanted to take a minute to thank you, everyone who's backed, everyone who's thought about backing, and everyone who's going to pick the book up in the future.

This has been a wild ride. Yes, I am just refreshing a page to watch a number go up, and it's like, not that big a deal, but it does represent like, 220+ people who believe in this book as much as I do--or at least enough to give me money for it. For my first crowdfunder, that's a really big deal.

If you haven't picked the book up yet, it will be available after the campaign. Still figuring out those details, but I am printing more than we need. I'll also eventually have some Community Copies on the Itch page. But, if you want to get in on the First Printing, don't wait too long. Campaign ends in 48 hours. Holy carp!

Project Update: Final Checkpoint: Solo Rules Unlocked, 24 Hours to Go! Plus New Patch Poll.

Racing fans,

You've gotten us all the way out to $20,000 in total funding as we cross this last lap, thank you so much! We’re thrilled to have Elliot Davis set up to start working on a solo racing adventure and rules for F-Infiniti.

We’ve got just about 24 hours until we cross the finish line and we think we can pick up enough boost to get past our next two stretch goals, can you fuel us up to get there? Our next goal is from Tony Vasinda, with accompanying art by Fabian Lelay:

And if we’re really going at high speed, we could reach our $25,000 goal, with all backers also getting an accompanying soundtrack courtesy of Jo Vasinda!

As we close out, we’ve also got a poll going for what patch designs you want to see for our two Team Patch add-ons that’s attached to this update.

If somehow you still haven’t checked out the other games that are a part of Orbital Blues Month, you only have a few hours to support them as well! Thank you so much for bringing this project to life. We’ll have more news to share soon but right now we’re just riding high off of all of your support for making this little racing game possible.

See you on the track, racers.

The Gasser Union on Leviathan Prime may not be the biggest pack of fans, but as the sector's largest Worker Owned Fuel Consortium, GULP’s Solidarity Circuit pays out better than most.
Goal: $22,500 reached! — We did it! This project reached this goal!
100%
If we reach 25k, every pledge will also receive a racing-themed soundtrack to accompany your games, courtesy of Jo Vasinda!
Goal: $24,359.96 / $25,000
97%
We need $640.04 more to reach this goal.

Project Update: Designer Diary: Let's Steal Everything

It's the start of the last week, and we're back with more Designer Thoughts on one of the pillars of the book:

Designer Diary: Designing a Data Heist

I meant to talk more about the Data Heist when I sat down to compose the last Diary. But instead, you got a preview of the Boilerplates. I'm still excited about them. But, I'm also excited about heists.

For the last 11 years, my day job has been in cybersecurity. I'm a technical editor (also now a content manager), but I read a lot of reports, vulnerability descriptions, and research accounts about cybersecurity weaknesses (related: Don't reuse your passwords. A password manager is likely a good investment). I'm not like, an Expert, but I know my way around the cybersecurity sphere.

And they're always saying "write what you know."

You see where I'm going with this? I'm structuring the data heist around cybersecurity attack research. The planning and execution of the attack is currently written to follow the flow of Reconnaissance to Initial Access to Exfiltration that I've been writing about for about a decade (unless I get an editor who tells me that's too boring).

As for the target, I'm bringing back some of the Media-centric bad guys from Station-bound Semitones: Maile-Wildner Multinational Industries. MWMI isn't just in contract disputes with a specific jazz band anymore, they're now playing the part of my Space Disney megacorp mentioned in the last update. They're also the parent company of Wildplay, who sponsor the DreamScape Gamecade, the collection in-game games that players can play.

Commway Communications has essentially been a payphone company up until they launched the DreamScape, I figured they'd need a little help from someone who knows how to do Media--thus MWMI's partnership was born.

The Data Heist is around a piece of what should be Public Domain media that MWMI is putting in their "Vault", after buying up and acquiring as many legal and bootleg copies they can get their hands on. They'll tell people that they're working on a Collector's Edition, but the reality is that they're trying to drive up the prices and create demand.

And the Vade Mecum don't jive with that. Which is where they come in--and why they're hiring your team.

I still have a ton of editing to do on this, so it's possible a lot will change, but I hope that the cybersecurity framing stays in place, and is a useful and interesting way to structure the Planning and Heist phases of the mission (also, I'll likely crib a flashback mechanic from Forged in the Dark games or something similar, because as much as you want to plan ahead, Heists never go to plan--and I wouldn't expect players to just know how to plan a heist--that's what TTRPGs are for!)
