Project Update: Lesbians in Space is an audiobook!
I just wanted to update all the people in this campaign to thank you for bringing Lesbians in Space: The Sapphics Strike Back to life. And, to let you know the first anthology, Lesbians in Space: Where No Man Has Gone Before is now an audiobook, narrated by Mary Robinette Kowal!
I'll be busy uploading the audiobook to places like Audible, Chirp, Audiobooks.com, and more very soon.
B U T... if you want to get a copy directly from me (and possibly sooner, as audiobooks take a while to distribute), there's a way! Even better, Mary Robinette Kowal will once again step into the recording booth in our next campaign to record Lesbians in Space: The Sapphics Strike Back!
It starts September 10, and you can CLICK HERE to make sure you get alerted when it starts!
During the campaign, you'll be able to get an audiobook of both volume 1 and volume 2, so what are you waiting for?
If you want even more physical or eBooks, then may I also point you toward our Year 5 Part 2 campaign, starting October 29th! I'll start posting author interviews in early September, so you can get a glimpse at what goes into these books!
Thanks again!
- William C. Tracy
Project Update: Zines are here!
You'll never believe what I found on my doorstep (unannounced) yesterday! 🤩
I will be furiously working to start packing orders now that the zines have arrived, and digital rewards will be released this weekend.
Thank you!
Project Update: Summer Update
Now, I am just waiting for them to cross an ocean.
Project Update: Bonus Chapter Delay
Work has been paused on the bonus chapter for a minute while I (Evan, the artist) recover from a surgery that made me unable to sit at a table. I’ve recently recovered enough to be able to start plugging away at it again, though! It’s a little under half-way done, there’s just a couple more pages to pencil and then it’s on to inking. As I’m able to sit at the table longer and longer, more work gets done each day.
Thank you for your support, and especially for your patience!
Also, there are still a couple of backers who haven’t filled out their surveys yet. We’d love to get your rewards out to you, but we won’t be able to do that without your survey responses. We’ll send out the link to the survey again in case it got lost!
Project Update: Fulfillment has begun, and a New Novella is Afoot!
IN SHORT
- Books have begun shipping.
- Digital formats will also go out today, later in the evening.
- Due to bizarre printer issues, the bonus novelette 'zine will only be sent out in digital formats but backers will have the opportunity to get the physical format later. Further details below.
- What Rough Beast? is now available for sale, in paperback & digital formats, and pre-orders are also beginning to ship today. https://newedgeswordandsorcery.com/product-tag/what-rough-beast/
- Fancy another great S&S novella? BLUE FIRE, by Molly Tanzer, is the first ever Jirel of Joiry novella and is crowdfunding right now: https://www.backerkit.com/c/projects/brackenbooks/blue-fire-a-jirel-of-joiry-novella
IN DETAIL
Please make sure you've filled out your Backer Survey. If you haven't then we can't ship you your books.
And when you get them, we'd love to see your pics of the books out in the world! Feel free to tag us on Facebook, Instagram, and/or Bluesky so we can know they're out there.
DARK SEA SILVER
We've very proud to have funded Audrey Stolling's novelette featuring the mysterious, suspiciously long-lived giantess Lathra as a free extra to go with the novellas from this crowdfund. Later today the ePub & PDF will go out to all backers along with the digital formats of the four main books.
But something else mysterious means that we will not be shipping out a physical edition, not yet anyway. The printer we got our quote from....seems to have vanished from this Earth?! Meanwhile nobody else can match their price or the speed with which they offered to print the 'zine, not even close on either front. While we do plan to scrape up the difference and print it, to do so now would delay fulfillment of the four novellas by several weeks...
...and we're not doing that. We're shipping those novellas now, damn it!
So the plan is: everybody gets the digital edition today, and when we are able to print the physical edition anybody who backed this crowdfund will be able to get a copy from us through our store - we'll do an update here to let you know it's out, of course - and only have to pay for shipping, which will be minimal as the 'zine will be able to fit in a modest envelope, and weigh very little.
We're truly sorry about this, and have been scrambling for weeks to either find the original printer (???) or someone who could do what they did. Having run out of time, we think this is the best solution we can offer for now.
WHAT ROUGH BEAST? is officially released to the public TODAY in digital and mass-market paperback formats. Got a friend who wanted a copy but missed the crowdfund? They can grab a copyhere: https://newedgeswordandsorcery.com/product-tag/what-rough-beast/
Meanwhile...
BLUE FIRE is the first ever Jirel of Joiry novella, written by Molly Tanzer, with interior art by Saprophial, Clade Mirya, and fantasy cartography by Caster Jones. Currently crowdfunding, this book has unlocked every stretch goal so far - double art, international shipping discount, spray edges (backers vote on the color), and a one page comic by Clade Mirya - and it still has over two weeks to go! Join us for the ride and don't miss those crowdfund exclusives: https://www.backerkit.com/c/projects/brackenbooks/blue-fire-a-jirel-of-joiry-novella
ALRIGHT
Thank you so much helping us here at Brackenbury Books enter a bold new era. We think the new novellas are wonderful contributions to The Sacred Genre of Sword & Sorcery, and we can't wait to bring you more exciting books in the future/
