This week I took a little break from working on the main collection pins (having a mean chronic pain flare so I couldn't draw as much this week), and instead worked on creating the small freebie pin I'll be offering backers as part of Pintober 2025!
Pintober is a group project I'm taking part in as a member of Pinforge; a collective of pin artists. For Pintober 2025 we've all created spooky-themed projects and if you back 3 or more campaigns from Pintober you'll qualify for free pins from all of the campaigns you back!:o All the projects will launch on the 21st of October and you can follow the big project itself to keep up to date via the link above.
The group theme for the freebie pins is Halloween Treats so I decided to make you all a horse skeleton cookie! XD It's gonna be about 1.25" - 1.5" I think.
I started by creating a rough cookie shape and then spent way to long drawing up a not-simple-enough horse skeleton, which you can see below on the left. This one is clearly over-complicated for a cookie lol so I then made a new layer and redrew a much simpler icing skeleton much faster and it looks much better. You can see that one on the right:

I then worked up some cookie texture detail and a nice bitten out chunk on his butt:
I was pretty happy with this and the plan is to use either matte gold or sandblasted gold metal for the cookie and white or pearl enamel for the icing, with recessed metal for the texture.
However I then threw a spanner in the works by deciding to try a chocolate cookie colour variant:
I really like the bold contrast between the cookie and the skeleton on this one but the vanilla cookie is perhaps more traditional and I want to leave it up to you guys to decide which flavour we make so I've attached a poll below so you can vote for your favourite! :D
(Whichever colour we don't make as a pin I will probably turn into a little sticker for add-ons).
I look forward to seeing which cookie horse wins the race!
