You probably already know this, but international shipping right now is *rough*, to say the least. If you're an international backer outside the US or Canada, unfortunately I will not be able to ship directly from me to you. For this reason, I am offering more digital rewards to try to reward backers who can't get physical copies and really make the electronic offerings as special as possible. Once the book is released, I can provide links for IngramSpark and Amazon, which may give you better options for actually receiving a physical paperback or hardcover without paying out the nose for shipping. If you'd like to specifically get notified of when the book is published in these areas, you can either subscribe to the project updates, or email me at: [email protected]
100% finished, actually! We're just finalizing the funding to get the paperback and hardcover books printed with this campaign. The Lucky Machine is 100% written, beta read, adjusted, proofread, and edited. It's even about 90% formatted, too, which I aim to complete 100% prior to the campaign ever even launching.
You'll just have to read it, won't you? ;)
Hold on, let me get the artist so they can explain... [I return, but wearing a mustache] Hey there, I'm the artist, what can I do for you? In all seriousness: I don't credit the art and/or artist because that's me. I drew everything by hand. And once again I reiterate: I do not use AI in any way, shape, or form to do anything with my writing or my art... Not even "to just generate ideas." No thanks, I've got my own brain for that!
That would be Rebecca Olivia Hodges! https://rodoesvo.com/
BackerKit projects do *not* collect shipping at the time of pledge, so, in order to get your rewards, you will be sent a survey to collect shipping costs. This helps account for things like holiday surcharges, fluctuations in shipping prices, etc as some projects can take months or even years to fulfill (not this one though). I am expecting shipping to cost about $8-$10 per, but it will be calculated via weight, so packages with more books will likely cost more. I only entrust packages to the USPS, who have consistently delivered in a timely manner 99% of times I've sent packages. UPS and FedEx tend to drop kick my shit (or lose it entirely) so I won't use them. The holiday cutoff for USPS is December 17th, and I'm reeeeally hoping to have everything done by then (no promises, though, sorry) so... fingers crossed! I also try to reduce-reuse-recycle as much as possible, so you *may* get your package in a recycled Amazon mailer. Rest assured, I'm not using Amazon to print these (and they're all coming directly from me for all your goodies) -- but they may come in the Amazon bubble mailer. Not all backers will get recycled packaging, but some will. Thanks for understanding and helping reduce our impact on the Earth by giving a second go-around for single use plastics!
Maybe in the future sometime when I can learn more about them, but this campaign is not currently funding that. <3 I'd like to get the books released in text first before I start looking at format options.
BackerKit FAQ
BackerKit Crowdfunding is an all-or-nothing collaborative funding platform. Creators share their project ideas and set a funding goal with a deadline. Backers pledge money to help make the project possible.
If the project meets its goal by the deadline, pledges are charged and the creator moves forward. If it doesn’t, no one is charged.
Backers often receive special rewards for their support, such as:
- Exclusive products
- Bonus rewards for backing related projects
- Discount pricing
- Behind-the-scenes updates
- Creative input opportunities
Pledging in crowdfunding is a commitment to support the creation of a new product or project. Unlike a traditional purchase, you're not buying an item that already exists. Instead, your contribution helps bring a creative idea to life, and in return, you typically receive rewards (such as the product itself) as a thank you for your early support.
- Select a pledge level with the reward(s) you would like to receive
- Select any add-ons
- Confirm your pledge!
- You are charged only if the campaign meets its funding goal.
- Charges happen when the campaign ends, not when you pledge.
The creator will send you a survey to:
- Ask you for more information about your rewards (selecting options, etc)
- Collect shipping information
- Offer additional items you may want to add to your pledge
- Collect shipping fees (if applicable)
The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge. Additional payments are charged when you complete the survey.
Only the project creator and the BackerKit Support Team can see your pledge and contact information. Other backers and the public cannot see your individual pledge amount or personal details.
You can change or adjust your pledge level and add-ons before the campaign ends. After the project concludes, cancellations or changes are at the creator's discretion and may depend on what stage the project is in.
Overtime Mode extends your campaign past its original end time to give backers a final chance to make their pledge. It will add an additional 10 minutes past the end time as long as pledges keep coming in. The campaign will end when there is a 10-minute period without any new pledges.
