Project Update: Tarot Mechanics and Campaign Write-Ups!

Hello Knights!

We’re starting today’s update as we usually do; by thanking everyone that has backed the campaign so far. We’re truly grateful to each and every one of you!

Today we’re revealing more about how Tarot cards are used in the creation of player characters in Knight: An Avalon RPG. This represents the third step in character creation, after determining base values and archetype.

Tarot cards are used to add events to a PC’s past, each one marking an important event in a character’s background. The drawing of tarot cards can be random or not (GM’s choice) and each player draws a total of five tarot cards to determine the following aspects:

Past – A few words or sentences that can provide information to flesh out a character’s background.

Bonus – Which characterisitc and aspect points the card give the PC, added to a player’s character sheet.

Advantage/disadvantage - From the 5 cards a player has drawn, they must choose two advantages and one disadvantage.

Each tarot card provides different affects and stats and it is up to players to choose which of the characteristics from among the cards they have drawn to add to their character.

Each of these aspects are listed for each of the tarot cards in the core rulebook for Knight: An Avalon RPG.

Here is an example of one of our tarot cards

You can make this important step more immersive for your group with the Knight Tarot cards, specifically illustrated for Knight: An Avalon RPG by Nicolas Dujols. You can do so by adding our custom Tarot cards add-on to your pledge or get it for free with the Artur pledge!

Campaign Write-Ups

We also wanted to take the opportunity to thank two sites that have written an article about the campaign, RPG.net and zestolu.cz.

If you've spotted any other coverage for the game, please share it with us, we'd love to see!
