As to why people seem to think MapForge doesn't exist any more. I just did a search on YouTube for "best mapping applications for rpgs". That returns the names of loads of influencers in that space and none of them are talking about MapForge because I daresay they either don't know it exists or like the chap above thought it was in the past.
I suggest reaching out to all the guys who are posting videos on this subject with a reminder and a free licence. Can't do any harm.

On the MapForge Discord server, search for the word "isoforge" and you should be able to find some info about what that app would be/do.
