I never expected to be writing middle grade books. This was a surprise--a turn the Universe took me on--and I'm so, so glad it did. It is an honor to get to write for children. They are the purest fans and they are often in the most need of story. It can be a dark and sharp world, and stories can be a light. A way through. A ray of hope.
