A light-spice, second-chance romance with thriller pacing and stakes.
When her last world tree expedition went awry, Scarlet thought her career as a high-altitude arborist was over, until she receives a mysterious offer from an old friend. The XAD, an organization dedicated to investigating the outbreak of space-time anomalies in Scarlet’s island nation, believes the colossal trees may be linked to the strange events plaguing her home. They enlist Scarlet to help them reach the summit of Kapre’em Fir, the only living yggdrasil yet to be climbed, to uncover the arboreal giant’s hidden mysteries.

The expedition takes a turn when Scarlet discovers her ex-fiancé, Darrin, is also part of the team. Mysterious and aloof, Scarlet worries her ex might have tagged along to sabotage her mission, but when the team stumbles on an abandoned spy station—along with a malfunctioning nuclear generator—their research expedition becomes a mad dash up the tree to radio for help. With her team on the verge of meltdown and Darrin’s secrets revealed, Scarlet must confront her ex-fiancé before the whole tree is consumed in nuclear fallout.
