The book will move toward publication after the editorial process and the next stages of submission are complete. Because this campaign is focused on preparing the manuscript for that journey, a publication date has not yet been set. Backers will receive updates as the memoir progresses. Kickstarter encourages creators to use FAQs to provide clear information about project timelines and to keep backers informed as the work develops.

I’ll be working with professional editors who have experience with memoir and trauma-informed narratives. Their role is to strengthen the manuscript’s structure, language, and emotional flow while helping me preserve the honesty, voice, and lived experience at the heart of the story.

The $3,000 goal will be used specifically to help move The Woman I Became After the Fire through the next stage of the publishing process. The funds will support: Developmental Editing Reviewing the manuscript as a whole to strengthen the structure, pacing, flow, and overall storytelling. Line Editing Improving the writing at the sentence level, including clarity, consistency, wording, and readability. Sensitivity Review Having the manuscript thoughtfully reviewed to help ensure that the experiences and subjects discussed in the book are handled with care and consideration. Editorial Guidance Receiving professional guidance throughout the revision process so the manuscript can be properly prepared for its next stage. Every contribution brings this project closer to becoming a professionally polished book and, ultimately, reaching readers. I’ll share selected before-and-after examples, personal reflections, key milestones, and insights into how the memoir takes shape through revision. Backerkit's project updates are designed to help creators share behind-the-scenes progress and keep backers informed throughout the creative process.

You’ll receive regular updates throughout the editorial process, including key milestones, progress on revisions, and insights into the journey of preparing the memoir for its next stage. I’ll also share important developments, challenges, and timeline changes openly so you can follow the project as it evolves. Make sure I have your correct email to get updates.

BackerKit Crowdfunding is an all-or-nothing collaborative funding platform. Creators share their project ideas and set a funding goal with a deadline. Backers pledge money to help make the project possible.

If the project meets its goal by the deadline, pledges are charged and the creator moves forward. If it doesn’t, no one is charged.

Pledging in crowdfunding is a commitment to support the creation of a new product or project. Unlike a traditional purchase, you're not buying an item that already exists. Instead, your contribution helps bring a creative idea to life, and in return, you typically receive rewards (such as the product itself) as a thank you for your early support.

Only the project creator and the BackerKit Support Team can see your pledge and contact information. Other backers and the public cannot see your individual pledge amount or personal details.

You can change or adjust your pledge level and add-ons before the campaign ends. After the project concludes, cancellations or changes are at the creator's discretion and may depend on what stage the project is in.

Overtime Mode extends your campaign past its original end time to give backers a final chance to make their pledge. It will add an additional 10 minutes past the end time as long as pledges keep coming in. The campaign will end when there is a 10-minute period without any new pledges.
