It is the far future. Humanity spreads across the galaxy. Led by a council of corporate interests, the Imperial Core reaps the benefits of plunder and exploitation on an unimaginable scale, teeming trillions of human beings kept docile by mass media and the never-ending war against every other sentient species humanity has encountered.

You were a soldier in that war. Not one of the grunts, given basic training and a gun and shoved towards the enemy, although you might have started there. No, you were part of Strike Force Omega. Omega, because you ended things. Given the best training and equipment, remade by your corporate masters into a terrifying god of war, and expected to achieve the impossible on a regular basis. Which you did.

Until you got out.

But war has found you, even here. Not all the threats in the corp newsrooms are overstated.

The people of these worlds are frightened, but they will defend their homes against the oncoming tides – and they will fail and they will die. Even in their millions they cannot win.

Unless...

War is what you were made for, after all. You’ve killed and destroyed for far worse causes than this, so why not take up arms one more time and maybe try to claw back a little part of your soul?

You won’t be able to make a difference by yourself, of course, but there are others like you here on the frontier.

And three or four of you? 

Yeah.

Strike Force Omega is a tabletop roleplaying game where players take on the role of variously enhanced super-soldiers in a galaxy where sorcery rubs shoulders with technology. Powered by Spencer Campbell's LUMEN system, Strike Force Omega delivers fast-paced tactical combat set against a backdrop of unfolding war.

What battlefield role do you specialise in?

  • Arcanists use magic to control the battlefield and lay terrible curses on their enemies.
  • Infiltrators are silent assassins who kill from the shadows with knife and pistol.
  • Skirmishers are engines of destruction up close.
  • Sharpshooters prefer to stay far away from their targets, killing through a scope or scrying orb.
  • Thunderers also like to stay at a distance -- all the better for wreaking massive battlefield devastation.
  • And Tacticians hold everything else together with keen senses and clever strategies.



And who are you going to fight?

  • The wolf-like Bustak, physically powerful lovers of violence?
  • The condescending Darien, with their arcane drones and manifest gods?
  • The all-consuming biohazard of the Swarm?
  • The misguided and unmoored sorcerers of the Church of the Waking Dream?
  • The imperialistic Elethrians and their ultra-advanced technology?
  • Just some petty warlord with a handful of starships and a paramilitary?
  • Or maybe other Strikers. Just like you, but still under the thumbs of their corporate masters.

Strike Force Omega is complete -- it's written, laid out, ready to go -- but at 260-ish pages of full colour it's too expensive to print without doing an offset print run. But an offset print run comes in at a minimum of 500 copies, costing a few thousand pounds. I don't want to spend that much money on the hope that I can shift those 500 copies later.

BUT. It's not going to take that many people to fund that print run. If about 115 people back this project then that'll cover the whole thing and essentially I get the other 385 copies for free, to sell at conventions or into distribution or possibly to just hide in the cavity walls of my house for extra insulation this winter.

I've set the goal for this campaign below that number though, because I'm mostly looking to defray the risk rather than fund the whole thing. £2000 will turn the print expense from "eye-watering" to "large" and I'd rather have that than nothing. So that's what I'm looking for your help with.

Everyone hates shipping, it's the worst.

I estimate shipping costs of about £5 if you're in the UK, and about £15 / $20 if you're outside the UK. This is rounding up slightly from current prices on the Royal Mail website for a variety of reasons: prices may go up, I'm not 100% sure how heavy the book's going to be, I need to buy mailers and bubble wrap, the people overpaying are subsidising the people who it's going to cost me £30 to send their packages to, but mostly I just like to keep things simple and rounding up to the nearest £5 also gives me a financial buffer if I've forgotten something.
