So I was onto the artist claiming to have not used AI. And I knew what he was doing... stalling. If enough time passes on the freelance service I was using, I'd be unable to dispute his claim to the money. Of course, before I even contacted him to ask about the AI, I'd run all the art pieces through AI detection software.

Detection software is not perfect and often hits on false positives, and some services are better than others. Every piece sent to me came back at 90-100% likely that AI was used (and I'd paid this guy a lot of money). I don't want to make a blind accusation and so I put the software through 6 different software detectors and the results were consistent. I then put one of my published short stories through it and it came back at 100% human made.

While I was communicating with the "artist" and hoping that he wasn't a lying hack, I'd already begun a dispute process, complete with screenshots detailing the detection findings. Truth be told, what happened next sealed the scammers fate...
