Cordel Play: From Strangers to Instigators
How well do you really know the people sitting across from you?
Cordel Play is an 18+ social board game for 2 to 18 players built around conversation, curiosity, attraction, ridiculous decisions, escalating challenges, and one very important rule:
Everyone gets to control their own boundaries.
Whether you are playing with a partner, close friends, a new group, or people who barely know each other, Cordel Play starts approachable and gradually opens the door to increasingly revealing, mischievous, and daring experiences.
Six Tiers. You Decide How Far the Night Goes.
Cordel Play is built around six escalating tiers.
The lower tiers focus on conversation, personality, humor, and getting comfortable with the group.
As the game progresses, the questions and challenges can become more personal, more revealing, more physical, and more adventurous.
You are never required to take the game further than the group wants to go.
That means Cordel Play can be a funny party game one night and a much more intense experience with the right group another night.
Consent Is Part of the Game
Consent is not buried in a paragraph of rules.
It is physically built into Cordel Play.
The game includes a Consent Cup, individual numbered spheres, and a tier slider on every player token so players can communicate their boundaries as part of normal gameplay.
The objective is not to pressure somebody into participating.
The objective is to create an environment where everyone knows the boundaries, everyone can participate comfortably, and the game can become adventurous without becoming reckless.
350 Cards
Cordel Play contains 350 cards covering the full range of the experience.
Expect:
- Revealing questions
- Group challenges
- Playful dares
- Social interaction
- Mischief
- Fantasy prompts
- Relationship and attraction questions
- Unexpected situations
- Plenty of opportunities to learn things about your friends that you may immediately regret learning
The escalating tier structure allows the same game to work across very different groups and comfort levels.
Built for 2–18 Players
Cordel Play is designed to scale from an intimate two-player game to a full party of up to eighteen adults.
That means the same game can work for:
Couples. Friends. Double dates. Parties. New groups. Established groups.
Different people create completely different games.
More Than Cards in a Box
Cordel Play is being designed as a physical tabletop experience with components that make the consent system, player decisions, escalation, and group interaction visible on the table.
The game includes distinctive components such as:
- The Consent Cup
- Numbered Consent Spheres
- Player Tokens
- Individual Tier Sliders
- Six escalating tiers
- 350 cards
- Dice and gameplay components
- Multiple ways to play depending on the size and personality of the group
We are building Cordel Play to feel like a real tabletop game, not simply another deck of questions with a logo slapped on the box.
