I'm at the whim of Backerkit, (at least a little bit) on how much I can do. The surveys have been sent out, make sure you fill those out so you can get your rewards! I can't send out the PDF's at least until people finish that out (steps & whatnot)
That being said, I'm going to order the physical books today & leave it in the printer's hands! And then we play the best game ever of all time...the waiting game.

As it turns out, I girlbossed a little close to the sun & finished the art portion of the graphic novel!! WOOOO!!! Scream, party, good times were had by all.
So...what now?
Currently I am grinding my way into getting the layout & lettering done, with which I aim to have done by THIS WEEKEND. Then I'll be getting the PDF's sent to all you lovely backers AND sent off to the printer to get brewed together into a beautiful book for your hands & eyes to feast upon.
With this being part 1 of the series, the first five chapters, what is my plan for the next part? Currently I have been writing it & am working on the writing of chapter 8. Whew...has my process changed already! My aim is to have the next part ready to be crowdfunded for printopia 2026. IF not, it will be very close to being done and the wait won't be as long.
So I didn't write a character showcase for this week because of my excitement of getting done & locking in for the lettering and layout stage. Would you rather have a showcase...or the book? I know I would choose the book.
Hello everyone, I hope this message finds you well!
Today I wanted to update you on chapter 5! Currently I am about to start on page 8 & progress is churning right on along. It's hard to say when I could actually ship these off to the printers, but I imagine it will be either by the end of next week or the beginning of the next. Sounds professional, amiright? Regardless, I'm averaging about a page per day and I'm about over halfway on this particular chapter...so you'll have it in your hands soon enough!

Onto the character showcase!
Today we are talking about Dominic "Dom" Hightower.
Dom is an ex-mercenary for Terrace who was previously one of their top soldiers. But he found himself a casualty of a nasty battle in the way that he lost both his arms and legs. Terrace & Dr Glass gave him a second chance by giving him mechanical limbs that function at a greater speed and strength than his previous limbs afforded. The price? Keep fighting.
This agreement went well for some time until he found out that Terrace had reanimated the bodies of children & turned them into killing machines. After going rogue, they sent J.03 after him. But Dom was ready! He was able to hit J.03 with a small EMP to render him useless. So he brings him back to his small group of ex-Terrace forces and has him reprogrammed. Dom is now hellbent on a mission to bring down Terrace for all the horrible things they have done to him & others...
At the start of the comic series we see that he has been apprehended by Terrace & is being interrogated. But what they don't know is that he orchestrated the whole thing to get information on their new super weapon - The Goliath - and plans on using a newly reprogrammed J.03 (renamed Joe) to break out...and nothing will be able to stop him from doing so.
I have finished chapter 4 & I am now a few pages into chapter 5! It’s looking like I’m on track to getting this thing done by either the end of the month or the beginning of next month.
I really believe I would have gotten this thing finished were it not for the holidays & getting ready to exhibit at a convention - but I’m coping.
Now time for some Lore drops
So who (or what) is Terrace? Terrace is short for “Terrace Warfare Science Applications”. TWSA is a privately owned mercenary warfare corporation. They hold no allegiance to any country or any singular entity/group. They are not partial to any cause or reason, other than money and resources to further experimentation. The head of TWSA is actually a board of people. One of the people on the board, of course, is Dr. Glass.
Dr. Martin Glass is a scientist who specializes in biomechanics & merging man with machine. It was his idea and mission to take the mercenaries who had been wounded in combat, outfit them with mechanical limbs, and send them back to fighting. Dr. Glass isn’t without his own code of honor though. His first experiment was himself, taking his own arm and replacing it with a mechanical limb so as to know all the hurdles that would need to be overcome first hand (no pun intended).
Dr. Glass shows up for the first time in chapter 2 of “Am I Human?” And trust me…you’ll be seeing a lot more of him.
Time has come for another update on “Am I Human?”!
Currently I am on the final page of chapter 4. One final chapter left and I’ll have Part 1 finished! I have been keeping my head down and grinding away at this book, learning what I can about my own process and trying to improve my own art along the way. Page by page I can see subtle improvements, and I’m starting to settle into a process of how to make comics. I’m going to make a YouTube video soon about it, I think it’ll be fun to document it then go back to it in a years and see how much has changed.
This being my first dive into making comics I was a little nervous about what it meant to finish a book like this. My own timeline wasn’t met, but I’m not very far off of it. I’m still on track to having it sent off to the printers in March, which was still my original goal but it appears that the shipping may be in April. It really causes me to appreciate these Japanese mangaka who make a chapter in a week for these serialized books. Absolute machines.
I’m going to do better about updating you all since I need the practice in consistency. So what I’m going to do is make some character profiles and world building drops to wet the appetite before the books reach your grimy mitts!
