Choose your weapon.
 Hello!

While you await The Folk Hero PDF (coming later this month), here is a preview of the weapons available to you. There's also a fun poll at the bottom. Please vote if you can.

I've raided the shed and the kitchen cupboards for these.

Which one is calling out to you and why does it fit you're heroes vibe?

A long overdue update.
I wrote a folk song about the state of the Ununited Kingdom
Hi everyone,

So, I know, this update should have happened a couple of months ago.

I'd like to apologise for not keeping on top of updates and set out a clear plan for where we are and where we are going to be.

I’ve been running later than planned with the layouts, and I’m sorry for the delay. I take the trust and support you’ve shown this project seriously, and I know it’s important to keep you informed. I create these games myself, and try to run a small publishing business at the same time.

Managing that time has been a learning cuve for me and I also realise that sometimes I need to stop flaffing around with things and say, that's it, done. A stern rebuke from backers is always the best thing to snap me out of my overindulgence.

I’ve now put together a solid plan and schedule that I’ll be sticking to moving forward, and I’ll keep you updated throughout the process.

The current goal is to have the beta version finished by the 21st of June. I’ll release that to all of you as soon as it’s ready, though please bear in mind it will still need proofreading at that stage. But other than grammar and spelling, it will be as I intend it to be.

Proofreading should take around 7–10 days, which means we’re aiming to release the final PDF around the end of June. We use a professional games proofreader to ensure everything is in order and makes sense.

In the meantime, I’ll also be sharing layout previews and progress updates each week so you can see how everything is coming together. Here are the latest ones:

Once the final PDF is complete, we’ll send the book to print. Printing and fulfilment may take around five weeks, though we’ll do everything we can to keep things moving quickly and get it pushed through as fast as possible.

I'm also going to start ordering any other production items at the beginning of June, so we can start fulfilment as soon as the books arrive.

Thank you again for your patience, support, and enthusiasm for the project. It genuinely means a lot. I always deliver, albeit sometimes late and I will get Folk Hero in your hands this summer.

Community feedback - which cover should we use?
Hey all,

I'm getting close to releasing the beta PDF of the game (within the next couple of weeks, I hope). As always, my insistence on tweaking layouts and refusing to release anything until it feels like it is exactly what I want the game to be gets in the way of my timelines. I know this is frustrating, but thank you for your patience. Every game I create involves many iterations and playtests and this can often be a fuzzy area when timelines are involved. Needless to say, we are close.

So, on that note, whilst I finish up the layouts, I'd also like some feedback on my choices for the cover. I'm putting my choices up to vote by you, my community - which feels very apt for this game.

There is a poll attached to this update, and I am happy to get your general feedback in either the poll comments or the comments right here; I will monitor both.

So, below are the two covers that appear on the poll, as well as the endpaper which the cover opens up to (this isn't done to influence you one way or another, rather than to give you a sense of the aesthetic I am trying to achieve.

Looking forward to seeing what you think!

Progress Update on Folk Hero.
Hi everyone,

A quick progress update on Folk Hero!

I’m running a little behind schedule, but the good news is that I’m aiming to send out the PDF beta to all backers in March. I’m currently about 60% of the way through the layouts, and I’m really happy with how it’s shaping up (I’ve attached a few layout previews so you can see where things are at).

Once the beta is out, we’ll need a couple of weeks to:

  • Gather your feedback
  • Do our own proofreading and final tweaks

After that, the files will go to the printers.

Because of this, we’re now looking at a May/June fulfilment window for physical rewards.

Thank you so much for your patience.

I will be posting more regular updates with tidbits about the game and layout previews in the coming weeks. Like its predecessor, Punk is Dead, I genuinely think this is going to be something special, and it will be worth the wait.

More soon,

Tim

Digital Backer Issues Fixed
Hey there,

So, we've removed all those pesky pins from the digital backer rewards.

If you were affected by this issue, you should now be able to head on in and complete your survey.

Thank you!

Digital Backer Survey Issues
Hey there,

So the surveys are now out, but not without a small issue.

Digital backers who were on the Early Bird will find that a pin badge has been added to their rewards and they are being asked for shipping fees.

Please ignore this for now and we will get it fixed today or ASAP and drop another update to let you know you can complete your survey without being asked to pay shipping.

There are currently two covers I am working on for Folk Hero and I want the community to decide which one we use.
