BackerKit FAQ

How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?

Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.

To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.

All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.

Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.

Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.

When will I be charged for my pledge?

Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.

What happens after the campaign is over?

The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.

The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.

Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.

Project FAQ

Project Timeline

Initially we had a timeline for the Digital Rewards was Q1 2024 and Physical Rewards would be fulfilled in Q2 2024. Given the sheer number of backers we have to give all our suppliers enough time to product all the physical rewards then give myself time to write the expansion and playtest so at this stage we won't have a solid timeline until the project ends.

What do you recommend I use for Group Play?

Group play can certainly be done with 1 book, 1 deck of cards and 1 journal but to enhance your gameplay I highly recommend having a copy of everything each. Having a deck to draw from each allows more options to occur and things to get more exciting!

Do I need your first book about Akeroth?

No! The Brambletrek book is a self-contained story that exists within the forests of Hyhill. There will be lore included but you don't need the Akeroth Sourcebook to play this adventure.

Why can't US backers get their books printed by Drivethru?

This is purely due to their ability at not being able to print the foiled cover we need for the special editions and the page quality not being what we feel comfortable sending to backers. However, nearer to printing we will reconvene with them and see if there have been any improvements. If so the shipping prices will change accordingly.

Do I have to pay VAT?

Yes, due to tax laws here in the UK you will be charged VAT based on your location. This will be done at the same time as shipping in the pledge manager.

Can I get a refund?

If a refund is requested within 2 weeks of the project end, we can provide a refund or cancel your pledge with no questions asked. After those 2 weeks, we cannot provide refunds unless under circumstances where your physical product has arrived damaged beyond repair. At that stage you will receive a new product. Failing to fill out your address or not paying for shipping will not then cause a refund to be issued.
