BackerKit FAQ

How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?

Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.

To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.

All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.

Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.

Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.

When will I be charged for my pledge?

Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.

What happens after the campaign is over?

The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.

The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.

Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.

Project FAQ

Is Perfect Draw! compatible with [D&D, BESM, GURPS, etc]?

We've done our best to create a system that uniquely creates Card Game Anime style stories, and this required us to use mechanics that don't quite work with other systems. In Perfect Draw! the narrative directly impacts the card games by giving you Baggage and other opportunities to attain Advantage. Throughout the course of our development, we've spent a lot of time play testing and fine tuning the best experience we could! This is something we wouldn't have as much power to do if we made the game compatible with other systems. Certainly, if you're willing to be a bit of a game designer, there are ways that you could take some of our rules and integrate them with other games. However, we can't make any promises to the quality of the play experience or if things will balanced.

Why is this game Powered by the Apocalypse?

When we were playtesting the Card Game Combat and Card Creation systems, we realised that the game was already rather complex. Given the overhead of complexity that comes with making unique cards for your deck, we wanted to make sure the core rules where relatively simple. At the same time, we wanted to make sure players where being guided into exciting narrative moments and being forced into messy situations so they care about the upcoming card games. These are things we think the Powered by the Apocalypse framework does really well! Personally, I would refer to the game as more of a PBTA-Lite style game because while it uses some elements from both modern and early PBTA games, we happily scrapped or completely changed anything that didn't 100% work for the types of stories we were hoping to create. This is still a game that a PBTA veteran is likely to have a fairly easy time understanding the core rules of, but it is also one that refuses to fit the PBTA mold when it doesn't suit its needs.

When will I get my book?

As soon as the campaign is over! Or at least, you'll gain access to the prototype PDF as soon as soon as we can after the campaign is over and the funds have cleared. The game is already completely text, art, playtesting, and layout complete. All that's left to do is make edits, refine wording, and make any content that's been unlocked through stretch goals! Depending on the success of the campaign, we expect that the prototype will be updated for a month or two before being finalised. At which point, we'll release the final PDF and you should only be a couple days away from getting the notification that your physical copy of the book is on its way!

I've noticed an error in the book or quick-play kit, what can I do?

With a small team like ours and such a large project, it's easy for some errors to break through. If you've noticed anything, please feel free to direct message me here on BackerKit, make a comment, or send a message in our Discord (https://discord.gg/TCHRNdyKfR).
