Introduction

Bored of having your players meet in an inn? Tired of having them beat up kobolds and goblins until level 3? If only sending them to hell and back wouldn't kill them...

Why keep interplanar travel only for high level adventures? Fabled Beginnings is a new series of one shots that offers you and your players an opportunity to explore the astral sea, feywild, hell, plane of water/fire, and more!

This and each future installment of Fabled Beginnings features a few interplanar encounters, locations, and puzzles that can easily be plugged into any campaign. For €3 you will get roughly 14 pages of content and an afternoon/evening of fun. No other commitment required!

Story

The party is a group of hirelings who accompany their master to one of the largest magic-user conventions in the history of the realms. While the evening festivities are in full swing, the party is confined backstage to guard an important artifact. Of course it’s not long before a quasit steals the artifact and takes it to the Abyss. With just a moment to decide, the party has to follow and gets stuck. When an Abyssal storm threatens to consume the area, the only safe haven is a demonic baron’s mansion. After they entertain the baron, they’re granted a safe haven. Life in the Abyss doesn’t seem so bad until they’re sold to the highest bidder. They now have to escape the mansion to keep their freedom.

This adventure combines survival, ballroom intrigue, and a daring escape!

Budget explanation

Meet the team

Stephan van Hugten - Owner of FAE Games + Writer
Writer and avid dungeon master since he watched the D&D movie in 2000. In 2020 he decided to one-up WotC and started Wizards of the Dutch Coast, uh, FAE Games. Has run a marathon, so completing this project should be easy in comparison.

Mark Evegaars - Owner of The Wanderer Games + Map Maker
A Biology teacher, researcher, and council member of the Wizards of the Dutch Coast. Practised in writing, teaching and sabre-fencing like any dashing final boss should be.
As 'The Wanderer', he's also the writer of Lugon, The Grand Cross of Four, a TTRPG setting focused on intimately entwining Ecology, Magic and Evolution.

Merel Schouten - Artist
An enthusiastic artist, dedicated D&D player, and random goofball is the best description for this team member. Merel loves visualizing ideas, designing creatures and telling stories with fantastical illustrations.

Aleksei Fernandez - Artist
Self taught artist, avid gamer, and tabletop connoisseur from the Philippines. In his free time, he works on developing games that touch the heart. He loves immersing himself in vast, fantastical worlds; setting out to bring that same wondrous experience with his craft and his brand, DemkiArts.
