Project Update: Aerial Mount: Sorrowbond Skydrake

A Sad Tale for a Sweet Mount!

Heya Folks! Chris Lindsay here with GREAT news!!!
Thanks to your generous support we've already passed $50,000 unlocking the Elder Gyrosquid!!! Let's keep this train rolling. Let all your friends know where they can go for FANTASTIC new character options and AWESOME AERIAL MOUNTS!

Until tomorrow, I leave you with... A Sad Tale for a Sweet Mount

Have you ever had a pet, like a cat or a dog, that you felt you could confide in? One who you unloaded all your troubles to? They would look upon you sagely, as though they understood your personal troubles, and even though they had no answers, they were deeply sympathetic to your plight. Enter, the Sorrowbond Skydrake, a mount that quite literally feeds off sadness and depression. While their motive might be in question, they’re there for you, nonetheless.

Sorrowbond Skydrake

Sorrowbond skydrakes are deceptively empathic. They do not hunt for meat or treasure but instead feed on the burdens of the heart. Sorrowbond skyrakes are tragically beautiful. Their bodies are slender and sinuous, built with a delicate grace. They move with a slow, flowing purpose, like lake fog drifting on a still night. Sorrowbond skydrakes have oily scales the color of a deep bruise with shifting blue, indigo, and violet hues.

Endless Tears. Sorrowbond skydrakes have eyes that appear as luminous pools of liquid mercury reflecting a perpetually overcast sky. A viscous, silvery substance wells at the corners of its eyes and frequently trails down their cheeks, leaving faint, shimmering tracks on its dark scales. This substance evaporates when it falls from their faces, leaving behind only the smell of rain and wilted flowers.

Feast of Sadness. To the grief-stricken, the arrival of a sorrowbond skydrake might appear to be a mercy; the lifting of an unbearable weight, filling them with reckless joy. But this relief is the predator's lure, offering hollow bliss as the drake feeds on the victim’s despair to fuel its own melancholic power.

Terrain. Sorrowbond skydrakes dwell near humanoids, especially in those places where grief or despair are common, such as a hospital, graveyard, or even the sewers beneath a city’s slums.

Training. Sorrowbond skydrakes are attracted to morose riders they can feed from. They enjoy sad stories and melancholy anecdotes, not because they understand the tales but because of the steady trickle of gloom coming from the humanoids who tell them. Sorrowbond skydrakes can be motivated with sad songs or anything that evokes despair in the rider or those around them.

Gear. Sorrowbond skydrakes require a skydrake saddle if a rider intends to soar the skies.
