The best 3 sessions (7-8 hours each) I've ever spent in ttrpgs, especially urban, is LoFP Terror in the Streets, set in 1630 Paris
Trouble doesn't even begin to describe this horror-urban adventure

Similar, but not exactly-the same, is when we played the Masks of Nyarlathotep campaign. I played it before running it as the Keeper. I can tell you that the scenes in the New York chapter: Hotel Chelsea, Juju House, Sing Sing, and the Chakota -- wowwww -- blew my mind. We used a hose and buckets to siphon gasoline off all of the cars we could find in the neighborhood. You can only imagine the mess we left behind us. What a lead in to a campaign that doesn't stop. Plenty of urban adventures to be had in that adventure series

The Peru chapter for Masks is only in the latest incarnation. Originally, I think it was a weird optional start in Arkham, but the action and clues to kick the campaign off were all in NYC. I don't know how many iterations there are. Maybe 3? 4? Definitely less than 7
I do like the new Peru chapter! I also think it's supposed to be some sort of weird flashback. Might be fun to try it in media res where you skip to the end of the chapter for just the combat, but the windup is also pretty nice
Call of Cthulhu does not use standard XP; skill improvement is based on successful use and a roll-over-your-skill mechanic, which can feel limiting. However, in Masks of Nyarlathotep, the frequent travel downtime makes this system shine, as you get regular chances to improve your skills between chapters. There is always a long sea journey around the corner, allowing investigators to make improvement rolls for skills they used in the previous chapter. This is a rare opportunity in Call of Cthulhu, as most campaigns don’t offer such generous downtime, so players can actually see their characters grow and adapt as they travel the globe in pursuit of clues
@Andre G. Yes, there are so many versions of this classic. Last year at Pax Unplugged, I picked up the new massive slipcase edition. I think its for CoC 7th edition. I have not played Coc since the early 90's. Looks like they made some welcome tweaks to the rules.
Mask is chock full of rich details. You could tell the authors researched the locations. I'm really enjoying the read and I'm only 75 pages in. 100's more to go.

I've heard so many good things about Masks of Nyarlathotep. Playing that is on my bucket list!
I'm currently reading this massive campaign arc. Now I want to skip ahead to the NY chapter! (I'm still on the Peru chapter).
