Project Update: Getting closer!
Welcome back, neighbors!
Summer is right around the corner! We hope that your grilling game is ready because you’ll soon be able to practice with this awesome game! Where is it now? Excellent question.
It is still being delivered here to us in the US, though we anticipate that it should be delivered by the end of this month or beginning of next month. Yeah, not exactly the “it’s delivered!” news that we were hoping for, but progress is being made! We’re set to either be right on time or just barely outside of our projected window for delivery. License to Grill is thankfully not experiencing any big delays such as bad weather or the like, it’s just taking a little longer than we’d hoped. But! Fear not, should there be any bit of news — even outside of our normal update schedule, you’ll be the first to know.
Since delivery creeps ever closer, now is the time to get your addresses updated! It’s not quite the final call for addresses, but you want to make sure that your address is accurate and up to date. You should be able to change your address by following this link here. But, if you need to change states, please email us at [email protected] where we’ll be able to update the address for you!

Project Update: License to Grill is still on a boat!
Welcome back, neighbors!
This update should be short and sweet as there’s (thankfully! whew!) not a whole lot to update you about! License to Grill is on a boat and heading to us. There don’t seem to be any delays, so far. We’ll likely be able to see our fulfillment deadline right around May as expected! Oh and, do us a favor and utilize whatever superstition you might have to keep that good news flowing. We want it to get to you as much as you do!
Now that we have a better idea of a timeline, now’s the time to be getting your addresses in order. This is not the final call for address updates. We’ll post about that as it gets a little closer to time, and that update might even be off of our monthly schedule. The shipping process, especially the ocean freight portion, is vague enough to make planning difficult. Fun! But, at this point, things are looking good!
Should you need to change your address around that time, be sure to email [email protected] where we’ll be able to help you further. If you have any questions, you can let us know there, too!

Project Update: License to Grill is on a boat!
Welcome back, neighbors! I have fantastic news! The product is now on a boat! But we aren’t entirely in the clear yet.
But wait, I hear you say, how can we be not in the clear if the product is on its way to you? An excellent question. Unfortunately, shipping across the Pacific ocean is the least predictable and most tumultuous part of the entire fulfillment process. We anticipate that the shipment across the ocean should take about two months. But — big, giant, huge but here — this is the part where things are the most likely to go wrong. Anything from rocky seas to a storm to any number of other things could cause a delay. So, we don’t want to promise no more issues, as it’s so far out of our hands right now.
Don’t worry, though! Should there be a delay, you’ll be the first to know, and we’ll give you an updated timeline as soon as we have it available. For now, though, we are looking for it to arrive at our warehouse in late April with a fulfillment in May! Which is right exactly on time of what we thought it would be! Woo!
Speaking of fulfillment and such, should you have an address change that you want to make, please don’t hesitate to reach out to [email protected]. Lydia (our newest employee!) is able to help you get that squared away. And, as always, we’ll be able to answer any other questions that you might have.

Project Update: Info for International Backers
Welcome back, neighbors. In our last update, we talked about how we’re open for orders for international backers. Unfortunately, we were only able to get these to you with VAT added to your order. We know, that’s less than ideal and not how we wanted to resolve this, but we have tried different ways and this is how the chips have fallen. If you would like to receive a refund, please absolutely reach out to [email protected] and we’ll refund your full pledge.
However, if you would still like your order, here is the shipping information for each zone:
Mexico: $28-30
Zone A (EU, Great Britain, Switzerland, Norway, Ukraine): $43-45
Zone B (Australia, New Zealand, and Asia): $47-50
Zone C (Everywhere else): $55-60
(As always, there are certain countries that we are unable to deliver to. Those countries are: Antarctica, Belarus, Brazil, Cuba, North Korea, Russia, Syria, Venezuela, and Yemen.)
Additionally, VAT may be added to your total during the survey, depending on your region. Please note that there may be other fees associated with imports that we have not been able to account for here, but these will not be refunded as we cannot account for potential fees in all areas. Again, if you do not want to pay that, we are able and willing to refund your entire order, with our apologies for not being able to solve this satisfactorily.
So, if you want a refund, please reach out to [email protected] for a refund of your full pledge. In fact, reach out to us for any questions that you might have. We’ll be able to answer most of them, even if they pertain to grilling over gaming.

Project Update: We’re almost there, International Backers!
Neighbors, I’ve received word that we are in the clear to deliver to our international backers at the same time as our US backers! This also means that pre-orders will be available for international late backers as well! Hooray! We’re so excited to be able to share this with you. However! We are still working on getting all of our ducks in a row. We’re pending just a little more information, like getting our BackerKit set up to actually take those international orders. Have no fear! We’ll be updating you sometime by the end of this week with all the shipping information and how to retrieve your survey link.
As for the game itself, it’s wrapping up production! We’ll be sending out more information with the shipping update soon, but first we’re going to get this squared away for international backers. If you have any questions, or if you’ve already filled out your survey and need to change your address, please don’t hesitate to reach out to [email protected]

Project Update: Printing is still going!
Welcome back, neighbors! The game is still printing, which is right on schedule. We now have a copy that we can show to you! We’ve already had great fun playing with it, so here are some detailed shots of the game and its contents.
It’s looking pretty sweet! Or savory if that’s what you prefer.
For our international backers, we are unfortunately still awaiting information as to whether or not we’ll be able to deliver to you. I know, that’s very frustrating, but we’re doing our best to get the game to you as soon as possible. We’ll post an update about that even if it’s outside of our regularly scheduled monthly updates. The moment that we know, you’ll know.

Project Update: Printing is a go!
Welcome back, neighbors! The game is officially printing! This part of the process takes about a month, and we’re right on schedule. But that good bit of news isn’t all that we have for you. We’ve got some pictures from the manufacturer featuring the premium metal tin!
Check out those cool knobs! And the first image is a little look inside the box to see the actual game board itself. We’ll supply you with any more pictures if we get them so you can take a peek at the process, too.
Now, let’s talk international backers. We are still unfortunately pending whether or not we’ll be able to fulfill outside the US/Canada. But! We should have more concrete news for you on next month’s update. Hang tight! And, of course, if you don’t want to wait for us and would rather wait for retail, you can always get a refund by emailing [email protected].
And that’s what we’ve got for this month! We’re moving along fantastically.

Project Update: Pre-production underway!
Welcome, neighbors! Thanks for joining us at the local barbeque once again! We wanted to give you an update on where we are in the production process as well as give a little more information for our non-US/CA backers.
First, let’s talk production. Currently, we’re still in the pre-production stage. Most everything is ready to go, but they’re still tooling some of the punchboard for our components. This is a normal part of the process, and we’re still right on schedule! Once that’s all ready to go, we’ll enter into printing, then shipping, and then delivery. Printing usually takes about a month, but can sometimes take longer. And, of course, shipping and delivery are where the major unknown is. But! You’ll all be the first to know should anything unexpected happen.
Now for our lovely backers who are outside of the US/CA. Unfortunately, we are still waiting on learning when we’ll be able to send product out to you. We’re currently in the process of obtaining necessary paperwork and permits to conduct business elsewhere and that is frustratingly taking longer than we had anticipated. Anyone who backed at a full level who would rather wait for a retail release than a will-they-won’t-they is absolutely welcome to a refund. You can obtain one by emailing [email protected]. Otherwise, please hang tight while we wait for the go-ahead!

Project Update: Pledge manager & files to the printer!
Welcome, neighbors! We’ve got some fantastic news for you this time around! First, let’s get the bookkeeping out of the way: the pledge manager should have made it to your emails. If you haven’t gotten it yet, please reach out to [email protected] where we’ll be happy to help you out further. We're still pending information for our international folks, so stay tuned!
Now, for the fantastic news! Not only are the game files on their way to the printer, but we’re going to be including the last two recipes! Yes, that’s right, the only two recipes that were not unlocked for the campaign are going to be included anyway. After some edits to the components, we realized that we could fit those last two food tiles in! That means that you’ll receive all of the recipes that were originally part of the campaign. How neat is that!
But wait, that’s not all. Since more recipes means more cards, anyone who purchased the sleeve bundle will receive an additional pack of tarot size sleeves for free! That’s right, you’ll get an additional pack of sleeves to make sure that all of your cards are protected.
Like I said, some fantastic news for this time around! Tune in next month where I’ll be able to give you an update on production from the manufacturer.

Project Update: Files in review, pledge manager on the way!
Welcome, neighbors, to our first update of the post-campaign era! We’ve got a few little things to go over, so let’s get started.
First, the files are in review here at Greater Than Games! We’ve got some in-house back and forth to make sure that everything is perfect and just so before we send it off to the editors. For this game, it won’t be too long before that’s complete; likely by the end of the month. We’re trekking through fast and getting that game to you as soon as possible! Awesome!
Now let’s talk about the pledge manager. In our last update we said “next week.” Well, next week has come and gone and you don’t yet have the pledge manager. That’s because BackerKit, for various behind-the-scenes reasons like pending payments, advised us on actually waiting two weeks before getting started on the pledge manager. Hey, they know their stuff better than we do, so we listened! The pledge manager should be on its way to you by the end of this week after a quick internal review, then a review from BackerKit.
And that’s it! Quick and simple, we’ll have more news for you next month!

Project Update: Grilled and Ready to Serve!
Woo! What a fantastic celebration. We wanted to thank each and everyone of our 498 backers for making this happen. We literally cannot do this without you! Thank you all again for every comment, like, view, and back to this campaign. Now that we’re here to wrap it up, we can give you a little bit of an idea of how this is going to go!
We keep you updated on the production progress of the game once per month here in the updates tab on BackerKit. The first Tuesday of every month is when you can look forward to reading more about where we are, what’s going on, and maybe even another real-life recipe to enjoy.
The pledge manager (or PM) will be sent out in about a week. This is how we collect all of your information to send you the product and collect your shipping payment.
When does that PM close? 2 months after we send it out! Be sure to do so within that time frame so we can be 100% positive that we’ll have some information for you. Of course, we’re always open to changing addresses or information after the fact! Changing things can go all the way until product arrives! However, sometimes things happen much faster than we anticipate. You don’t want to be someone completely missing out because you’ve had no survey information filled out at all!
Now, what are we looking at in terms of delivery? The game is pretty much ready to go! We’re waiting on a few little arts here and there for other recipes featured in the game, but the development is all set. This means that if we account for time just in case anything happens, you should be receiving your copy of License to Grill by May, 2024.

Project Update: Last Day of Summer Celebrations!
Well our celebrations here at License to Grill, anyway. There's so many more of you now! Seriously, we're all the way up to 483 of you with only six hours left to go! We've got a great amount of achievements to go over because y'all have been rocking it so hard. Let's see everything you've unlocked!
Full to the brim with (vegetarian friendly, of course) flavor, these peppers are going to make everyone’s mouths water!
Is a leek spin joke going to land in 2023?
Healthy alternative or not, there’s nothing stopping you from enjoying this new recipe now that you’ve unlocked them!
Crispy on the outside, rare on the inside, you’ll be craving beef all day with this new recipe thrown on the grill. Me next, please!
These come out swingin’! This firm meat has a pleasantly fishy aftertaste with many claiming it mostly tastes like chicken. Doesn’t everything?
It’s fatty and thus delicious. What else do you need to know? No saucing or seasoning thanks to the high flavor you’re already going to get!
Rice prepared separately, the slice of spam is waiting to be sauced and spiced to perfection. And the delicious seaweed to top it all off? Mm-mm! Got any you can prepare for me?
This steak has sauce on sauce on sauce on sauce to add even more points! Don’t wear white while enjoying this midwest delicacy!
The marinade (or spicing in our case!) is what makes this dish shine. Eat up!
Red, juicy, and delicious, we’re not talking about apples here! But you’ll get a crunch after getting into that shell. Yum!
