🎉 What We Made Together

Collaboration makes everything more fun.

The Game

Welcome to Gnome Squad! A pocket sized squad fighting game for 1-3 players. A complete game can be played in about 15 minutes with minimal space required. It is recommended for ages 10 and up.

How to Play

Players are each dealt six cards and choose which four to keep and the order to play them in, looking to make the strongest team possible. After picking and programming their squad, players place their cards face down. When everyone is ready the gnomes are revealed and battle begins. Compare each squad's first gnomes against one another, accounting for bonuses, to see which one is stronger. Then repeat down the line. Once all gnome battles have been resolved, the player who won the majority wins a point, all cards are shuffled together, and another round begins. The first player to win three rounds wins the game.

Strategy

Every gnome has a unique ability which can make them or their neighbor stronger based on where they are placed in the order, and having multiple gnomes of the same color on your team also provides bonuses.

The Art

All 18 gnomes have completely original art, all made by real life human artist, Ben Fleuter. We both stand strongly against AI art and will be making sure that no AI tools are used in the creation of this game.

Each of the four color groups (plus the two wild cards...) are a distinctly themed team:

Add-ons

I am happy to be able to offer all my previously published game designs as add-ons for this campaign, and at a discounted price!

5 other games available!

Prise De Fer - My first published design, Kickstarted in 2021 and with over 1200 copies now sold, is a fencing style sword fighting game. With original art by Kyra McDonald and comes with a free 6 card expansion included.

Frog Pull - A dice rolling tug of war over frogs. Described by a recent player as "competitive Frogger," players roll dice to move frog tokens toward themselves as quickly as possible, attempting to get two frogs to their end simultaneously to win. It can be a high speed casino spectator sport, or it can slow down and be enjoyed by younger players who are still learning number concepts like doubles, evens/odds, and high/low.

Push Hand - A balance game where players are attempting to knock their opponents over by either pushing so much they fall off the back of the track or pulling until they fall into the middle. Both players have the same 4 cards every turn, giving each interaction a rock/paper/scissors style decision tree. This game was created as a limited print run with wooden tokens and hand-stamped cloth bag. Each one comes with a numbered card.

Krampusnacht - Santa versus Krampus, competing over sweet little Victorian children. This design was a finalist in the Buttonshy Holiday Design challenge of 2023. It is "deduction with depth" according to one of the contest judges and comes with a free 6 card expansion included.

Dreidel Dash - A dexterity, card spinning Hanukkah race. Cards all form the menorah race track, the gelt rewards, and the dreidels themselves. A fast paced new take on a holiday classic. Includes 4 different colored dreidel cards and enough gelt cards to support 2-4 players.

Stickers - created by and 100% benefitting the artist, Ben Fleuter! This sticker pack will have 5 design options.

The Materials

The game cards will be poker size (2.5"x3.5") printed on 330gsm black core "casino classic" card stock. The same stock as MtG and which all our previous games have been printed on. The printer that we work with is in the USA and prints all materials domestically.

The rulebook will be a single folded booklet that fits alongside the cards, printed on glossy paper by the same print house.

The packaging will be a solid color vinyl wallet with single color imprinting of the logo. These are standard to most of our other games so we are well versed in their creation as well.

This is all to say that there will be no delays for factory prototyping of materials so fulfillment will go quickly!

Shipping

Shipping is always tough on a small project like this (for international backers the cost of shipping one game is as much as the game itself!) and obviously there is a lot of international tumult and uncertainty in costs right now, but I will do my best to give you the cheapest option available at the time of fulfillment.

As of the beginning of the campaign, here are the current shipping estimates based on the total number of games in your order (including add-ons). Actual shipping costs will be determined at the time of fulfillment, and those amounts will be communicated as soon as they are finalized.

Please note that this does not include import fees, VAT, etc.

Risks and Timeline

Right now the risks are very low. This is my 6th published design, all in this same component space, so I have established relationships with my suppliers and printer. All the artwork is done, layouts are near-final, and the rulebook is in final editing before the campaign has even started. The only risks that I can foresee are supply chain issues or cost spikes due to global trade disruptions, which would obviously be out of my hands.

The currently planned timeline is to have all files ready to go to the printer by mid June. They usually have a 6-8 week turnaround, so should have the printed materials back to me by mid-to-late August. That gives me August into September to assemble and package all the games and add-ons, and I would then have everything in the mail in the September/October range.
