The Story
A mad scientist holds the whole world hostage with his doomsday device. A self-aware AI in a massive robotic form rampages through major cities, bent on the destruction of all human life. A chaotic earth spirit uses her control over the natural elements of the world to threaten all of humanity. A superpower supremacist leads her army of powerful followers to defeat any who would oppose her goal of global conquest. Only a few stalwart Heroes stand in the way of all these Villains and their dastardly plots!
These stories and more all come from the pages of Sentinel Comics, and in Sentinels of the Multiverse, you play out those stories! You and your friends take control of an array of powerful Heroes, standing resolute in the face of danger to protect the world. Can you defeat the Villains and save the world? Or will the Villains triumph, forcing the Heroes to regroup and fight another day?
Sentinels of the Multiverse: The Video Game brought the world of Sentinel Comics to the digital tabletop in October of 2014. Now, 10 years later, with all-new art, notably streamlined mechanics, and new stories to experience, the sequel to the cooperative comic-book card game you love is about to make the jump to digital… with your help!

We’ve had live streams, listening parties, PAXes, Gen Cons, and Cosplays; It’s been an amazingly heroic decade!
The Mission
In the decade since we brought Sentinels of the Multiverse to digital, the game has sold over 330,000 copies, over 65,000 season passes, 291,000 individual expansions, and over 15,000 soundtrack albums, not to mention the cross compatible “Sentinels of Earth-Prime” game and its Magical Mysteries Mini-Pack expansion which launched in 2023. We’ve had live streams, listening parties, PAXes, Gen Cons, and Cosplays; It’s been an amazingly heroic decade!
The original story of Sentinels of the Multiverse was completed with the launch of OblivAeon - the worlds ending final event to end all others…
…and then designer Christopher Badell started wondering, “how could it be better?”
He and the Greater Than Games team went back to the drawing board and started working on what would become “Sentinels of the Multiverse: Definitive Edition”, which launched in 2022, and has already shipped one expansion (Rook City Renegades) and funded another (Disparation).
Imagine everything you have always loved about Sentinels of the Multiverse, but cleaned up and improved in just about every way. This is truly the definitive version of Sentinels of the Multiverse. And now it’s time to bring it to the digital tabletop.
The expected major feature set for this project includes:

- All-new dynamic music system composed by Jean-Marc Giffin

Fans know that what we’re calling “Sentinels of the Multiverse 2” here in the digital world is known as “Sentinels of the Multiverse: Definitive Edition” on the tabletop. Whatever name it goes by, Sentinels of the Multiverse 2 is a completely new digital tabletop game - not an update or expansion for the original Sentinels of the Multiverse: The Video Game. As mentioned, that game just turned 10 years old, and it still has a strong community playing it regularly. While there won’t be any more official content or feature updates, Sentinels 1 isn’t going anywhere, and will remain available and supported for the foreseeable future - the Steam Workshop alone should guarantee that!
Just as Definitive Edition was a visual overhaul for the tabletop game, Sentinels of the Multiverse 2 will feature a brand new screen layout with upgraded visual effects and player interactions. The heroes and villains drawn by Adam Rebottaro will leap onto the screen with animations and reactions to what's happening in the game.
The sounds of the Multiverse are also due for an upgrade. Composer Jean-Marc Giffin will return with an all-new dynamic music system that incorporates not just the environment, but the heroes and villain as well. A brand new set of sound effects will help you feel every blast of energy, rake of gunfire, and good old fashioned Thokk!
In Definitive Edition, Events are a way of experiencing the major stories that make up the history of Sentinel Comics in a campaign! We are working directly with Christopher Badell to craft a digital Campaign Mode that you'll want to revisit again and again, especially down the road as expansions add more Events.
Those who are familiar with our agile development process may be surprised to see the extensive feature and platform list slated for the initial launch. However, since this is a direct sequel, we think it's important that we launch with the same platforms and online multiplayer support as Sentinels 1. Please note that Weekly One-Shots and Steam Workshop are not planned to be part of Sentinels of the Multiverse 2 at launch, but may be added at a future time.

Sentinels of the Multiverse 2 will be Handelabra’s 8th digital tabletop title, and our first direct sequel. While our successful track record of more than 10 years making digital tabletop games includes titles like One Deck Dungeon, One Deck Galaxy, Aeon’s End, as well as the acclaimed hit Spirit Island, we couldn’t be more excited to be returning to the world that started it all! Sentinels of the Multiverse 2 continues our long-running partnership and friendship with the amazing team at Greater Than Games.
Our approach to this sequel will not vary from our usual process by a lot. We will still work closely with the creators, as well as the beta team, the fans, and the rest of the community to give this latest digital adaptation the treatment it deserves.

NOTE- Stretch goals are a way to guarantee that we'll do a thing. If a stretch goal is not listed here, or is not reached in the end, that doesn't mean we'll never do the thing. It just means it will be a business decision instead of being guaranteed by the goal. So let's think positively about stretch goals!
Stretch Goals
60k - Enhanced Campaign Mode
The game does include an event-driven campaign mode (read more about it here), but we also have many more ideas to expand replayability and variety. If we reach 60k, we will take more time to implement those ideas! These enhancements will be part of the core game and have no additional charge.
- Non-linear paths - instead of only chronological order, events can come grouped by book/arc, be in a branching path structure, or other configurations.
- Hero roster changes - Heroes could be restricted based on era/events; there could be cooldowns for using heroes multiple games in a row; incapacitated heroes could become unavailable; or other such concepts.
- Multiple save slots - have multiple different campaigns on the go at once.
- Other roguelike elements - power-ups or challenges specific to the digital version.
100k - Rook City Renegades
