When I first created this map, I was rushing against the Appx. N Game Jam deadline and I filled all the rooms with chairs, tables and Bric-à-brac and then faded the map into the background to give the impression of a blueprint. Inspired by writing the pledge achievement incentives, I decided to move ahead with populating the map with details from the hazards and flavor text. See if you can spot them all: A room that lost gravity, a fire, room filled with gas, the Xellaxian tusked tiger on the loose, an unexplored missile, biomechanical larva pouring out of a pipe, and a distressed spider droid asking for help.
We met the $250 fundraising goal the first day! I am thrilled, this is really beyond anything I expected. Thank you to everyone who has backed the project so far, I can't wait to get this adventure into your hands and hear the feedback.
I have continued to work on the art, the map in particular. In order to meet the Appx. N game jam deadline, the map was filled with generic details and faded into the background beneath the hex tiles. I set an achievement goal of $1500 to create custom art for the hex station map but I was so into the idea that I have already added tons of details and Easter Eggs into the map to illustrate the hazards and challenges that will be encountered in the adventure. By the time the zine is published, most if not all of the rooms should have fun drawings that allude to specifics within the adventure text.
