Progress on Toon Morgue continues steadily, and I wanted to share what’s currently happening behind the curtains.
The designing of the adventure included in the book is now officially underway and is being handled by @ilustracica, who has already contributed several illustrations to the project. Having someone already familiar with the tone and visual identity of Toon Morgue working on the adventure itself is a huge step toward keeping everything cohesive and properly cursed.
Alongside this, I’m excited to share a first look at the Middens illustration, as well as three newly finished pieces by JC (ArtStation): 👉 https://www.artstation.com/
These illustrations push the world of Terloon further into that grim, rubber-hose decay we’re aiming for, and seeing more finalized artwork come in makes the book feel increasingly real.
On the production side, I’ve also begun looking into additional physical rewards, including:
The Fool’s Errand custom deck printing
T-shirts planned for higher-tier pledges
The project itself is firmly on the rails right now. Most of the work moving forward revolves around planning, coordination, and pushing toward final book design so we can move into printing as soon as possible.
That said, a few important decisions are still on the table:
Final layout choices are still being refined, so that we can advance with the full design for the book.
A handful of illustrations are still pending completion
Once those pieces fall into place, we’ll be much closer to locking the book for production.
Thank you all again for your support, every update like this is another step toward getting Toon Morgue into your hands.
Hey Loonatics, I hope 2026 has been kind to you so far, or at least interestingly unkind in the right ways.
Illustration Progress & Layout Planning
Work on Toon Morgue is rolling forward nicely. Illustrations are actively being produced, and at the same time I’m deep into planning the book’s full layout, how sections flow, and how rules, flavor, and filth sit together on the page.
Middens – A First Look
One of the locations currently taking shape is the Middens: a blasted no-man’s-land, cratered and hollowed out. The main focus point of the war between Ashenwick and Wonderdung.
Final Archetypes Revealed
I’m also happy to share previews of the last two archetypes joining the roster:
The Unholy Hoarder – a scavenger who converts gear into blasphemous relics through obsession, ritual, and sheer refusal to let go.
The Haunted – a body puppeteered by something that never left, or never finished dying. You are not alone in your skin,
More soon as illustrations finalize and I can fully present the fully designed pages for these archetypes.
As always, thank you for sticking around and letting this rotten little world grow at its own dangerous pace.
Here’s to a year of madness and excitement, Alex from Ink & Gore Games
Happy New Year to all of you, and I hope the holidays treated you kindly, full of rest, good food, and just the right amount of chaos.
Things have been a bit slower during the holiday season, as expected, but that lull is coming to an end. January marks a return to full throttle on Toon Morgue. Writing, commissioning, and page work will all be ramping back up.
To kick things off, here’s a small preview of the map, not fully completed, but just a taste of the land you’ll be exploring. More details, labels, and horrors will be revealed as work continues.
Thank you all for your patience and continued support. The next stretch is going to be a productive one.
Here’s to a grim, loony, and gloriously rotten year ahead.
Hey Loonatics! With the campaign funded and the dust of Terloon settling (well… as much as it ever does), I’m diving into the next phase of production.
Upcoming Focus: Art + Page Design
Over the next month, I’ll be:
Commissioning new artwork for several key locations across Terloon
Getting illustrations done for the remaining character classes
Beginning page layouts and design work for sections that are already finalized in text
This means the world of Toon Morgue will start visually locking into place while the book itself begins to take shape page by page.
Featured Illustration – Vexed Charlatan
One of this month’s finished pieces is a fantastic illustration of the Vexed Charlatan, brought to life by artist Barbora Kukrechtová.
Thank you again for the support and patience as this world continues to grow. More updates next month as Terloon gets uglier and prettier at the same time.
We did it, everyone, Toon Morgue is officially funded! Thanks to every single one of you who joined this twisted little project, shared it around, or cheered it on. Your support is making this grim, rubber-limbed madness a reality, and I can’t thank you enough.
So... What Happens Next?
Now that the campaign is successfully funded, my main focus will shift toward finishing the remaining illustrations and finalizing the book’s design and layout.
This stage is all about bringing Toon Morgue fully to existence, tightening the visuals, polishing the text, and making sure every page feels perfect.
Updates Moving Forward
I want to keep everyone in the loop without spamming your inboxes, so here’s the plan: I’ll be doing one major update per month until the book’s delivery. Each update will summarize everything that’s happened: New art, production milestones, behind-the-scenes looks, and anything else worth sharing.
To make this work best for everyone, I’ll be posting a poll soon asking when you’d prefer these updates to drop:
Beginning of the month
Middle of the month
End of the month
Once that’s decided, you’ll know exactly when to expect your regular dose of updates.
It still feels surreal to say this, but Toon Morgue is happening.
Thank you for helping me bring this world of flickering horrors and cartoon decay to life.
See you in the next update — Alex fromInk & Gore Games
